Yes
Watching the speed f1 special last night, every time I watch Guy Martin he warms my heart, such a genuine and humble chap.
Surely would have been a great top gear presenter?

I think he has more taste than to do Top Gear! :D

I watched it tonight. Both were good presenters.

I love the guy but he would be a nightmare to employ , he's like a 4 year old with his huffs and tantrums .

Was good, could have been in more detail and shown more, but i think both DC and GM hit it off and it appears they had a great time and a good laugh as well...:)

Yeah, I like him too.

I was a little bit frustrated by that programme though.

The F1 car should have been measured against a moto gp bike.

Agreed, might have made it a wee bit closer.

However the slalom course should have been adjusted to the bike length too, then it would have been 4- nil to the car!

Think he turned down TG recently.i think he needs subtitles when I watch him though.

I love GM but that episode of speed was like watching an actual F1 race , dull

I'm glad David Coulthard isn't going to be on the new top gear , if he was I'd need to record it and FF through the bits with him in

Strange that because I think he's grown into quite a personality!

I've got to give him credit for what he's done and is doing on TV.... But.....

Having known and met a few folk who've met/spoke etc to him... Not quite as portrayed on TV, think Stumac might just be spot on with his comments....

How could he possibly be a presenter on that show when he has a brain!

Maybe it's because he was trying to be funny , the bit where he held himself against the vibrating bike made me cringe

Finally got around to watching it on All4 yesterday evening, having missed it when shown on normal telly. No real surprises in the race results, especially since they were hardly like for like in terms of level of racing. Thought DC did OK behind the wheel having been out of F1's hot seat for so long! Wondering what was meant by Traction before the final race (IIRC). Wasn't TC banned by then?

I think it it was a '12/'13 car, can't remember if they have TC then, but he certainly was using it.

The program wasn't bad, if a bit contrived & a foregone conclusion!

I quite enjoyed the programme, but like someone else said, it should have been between a f1 car and motogp bike. Having said that GM doesn't ride those bikes so he wouldn't have been presenting this programme.
I have more respect for motorbike racers, especially Road racers than i do for car racers.

I'm quite looking forward to the world speed record on a `wall of Death` prog they've been advertising. (y)

I like Guy Martin, and I think he does very good TV programmes. The TV people know they have a big personality, and he is good TV, it is just getting the right programmes for him.

Can't knock Guy Martin his hard work, dedication a bravery for some of the things he has done for his 'Speed' series. He seems a genuine person. It appears he is not chasing fame by keeping his day job, and does seem to do things his own way though, and I could see there could be problems if you employed him. ;) Easier to control people who rely on you for their money. ;)

Looking forward to tomorrow nights show. :)

Saw him for the first time last night whilst preparing dinner. Trying to break the hovercraft speed record.

Can't say I warmed to the guy. No idea what he has done before. Don't like how he comes across, don't like the wolverine lookalike look. Came across to me like he is lost and don't quite know what/who he is.

He's the opposite of the slick mejia celeb.

That's the point.

I get that he's not everyone's cup of tea though.

Dirt Quake V in July guys, not sure if Guy is bringing the wall of death this year. He did arrange for it to be there last year.

He's like a modern day version of Fred Dibnah, having a passion for engineering.

I've got a lot of respect for people like that. Just don't think they work well as the "foreman" on broadcast media.

But hey it's good there is a choice some we like and some we don't.

Depending on how the programme is portrayed, you can either have someone who knows his subject with a passion and relay it as such that others can understand, or someone who doesn't really know the subject, and doesn't really get below the surface of the subject. For me Guy Martin falls into the 1st category.

The Victorian engineering series was brilliant, not as 'spectacular' as the Speed series, but for me just as interesting.

I can understand how he could be a bit marmite. Talking of Tea though, I’ve never seen anyone so obsessed with Tea as Guy martin.

If you're referring to the wall of death show, it's on Monday not today.

Thanks, my mistake. :$ :)

C4+1 in half an hour - Mrs Nod will be home by then!

Certainly a very exciting programme indeed!

Oh my... Nod don't look

He's built his own bike....for another run to go faster.

I didn't look! Have been considering a modern Scout as a big V twin and I can say that GM's sounded like it should!!! Wouldn't say no to his Rocket 3 Special either. I would have liked to see more about the building of the bikes, wall and the rest of the technical side of the story rather than the fluff it was padded with.

I thought it was a very good programme. It was an interesting build up. I thought wtf, when he got stopped from doing another run to go to an advert, but when he said his vision went and he had wobble on his previous run, maybe it was a good thing they stopped him.

And well done to Shanaze Reade for also setting a World Record for doing the normal Wall of Death on a pedal bike.
