No
The Vulcan is not going to be flying today or tomorrow at waddington, this was probably the main reason for me buying tickets.
How come it flew for the 2 days leading up to the show but for the paying public on the day it always seems to be grounded tis such a shame:shrug:

I've just read on there forum that there was a hydraulic leak which was fixed yesterday,
no mention of her not flying.

This taken from UKAR...

"CAA not reissuing the PTF" and announced on Lincs FM no fly this weekend.

No reason given, that will pee a lot of folk off!

I think the Vulcan team are likely to be heading for more financial trouble if they don't get this display serviceability sorted out. Last year I planned a trip to see it - cancelled. Then another, and another. Four trips successively cancelled. Fortunately there had been advanced warnings given so there weren't any wasted journeys.

And at Biggin last weekend, I finally got to see her for the first time, but only by pure chance that I picked the right day to go since she was cancelled on the second day.

One (maybe two, during the same weekend) of last year's appearances being cancelled wasn't due to unserviceability. It was due to Marshalls - the company who certify all the maintenance. The Vulcan had actually been repaired, but Marshalls took their time - several days of it - in getting an engineer to Brize to certify the repair, causing more than one display to be cancelled.

Reading the aviation and Vulcan forums this mornng the aircraft "is" fully servicable but has not got the correct paperwork to allow it to fly.

It's all about money - if they had the budget that the RAF had to keep these things in the air there'd be no problem...if you really want to see it fly, put your hands in your pockets and donate something to the guys who run it...
I pay a small standing order to them even though I've never seen it fly - I think it's too important a part of our aviation history to let die for lack of funding...
See here: http://www.vulcantothesky.org/

We have done some donating to the good cause last year and to the Kent spitfire trust, like you say Arkady its Britains aviation history and should be kept alive

So, like I said, it looks like it's down to Marshalls again.

Just hope it shows up at Fairford in a few weeks time. I'm not really into my planes, but it would be good to see it. Shame about Waddington though.

From the Vulcan site...

04 July 2009 - VTTS

The Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VTST) and Marshall Aerospace are deeply disappointed and saddened to have to announce that the planned displays of the Vulcan at the RAF Waddington International Airshow on 4th and 5th July have had to be cancelled.

As part of the 2005-7 Major servicing, a number of structural inspections had to be deferred, because it was not feasible to complete them on XH558’s airframe. It was planned by VTST and Marshal Aerospace, in agreement with BAE Systems and the Civil Aviation Authority, that these inspections would be carried out before the renewal of XH558’s Permit to Fly on 3rd July 2009, using the airframe of BAE Systems-owned Vulcan XM603 at Woodford, as part of the scrapping process of this aircraft. Unfortunately, despite best intentions, it has not yet proved possible to complete or establish mitigations for all these inspections. Consequently, we have currently not fully met the conditions that would enable the issue of XH558’s Permit to Fly renewal.

XH558 is however is fully serviceable and ready for flight, and Marshall Aerospace together with VTST and BAE Systems are doing all they can as quickly as they can to resolve this unexpected, one-off issue within the next few days. We are very sad that it is not going to be possible for the Vulcan to display at Waddington over the weekend of 4th/5th July.

If the buggers knew about it why did they advertise it, do they still get paid for a static display
