Blocking the trem can help stability if that's an issue, unless you need to bend upwards. A little light oil or lipsalve can also lube the trem if it's a true knife edge type.

Thank you for advice. I had seen it mentioned on a Youtube vid but wanted to see if I could set everything back to standard, once I got the new strings. The old ones were stretched and strained (not surprising due to age), so all the settings were off and may have been "played with" by a previous owner. As you will know, one step affects another, so am now following a step by step approach.

Make sure you do the setup with the new strings in your gauge of choice.

All done now thank you. I bought myself a NUX headphone amp and it is amazing! Preset 5 had me playing like Hank Marvin in minutes! (Yeah! Right!) :0 Echo, reverb etc., all set up and ready to go but fully adjustable via the phone app if you enjoy twiddling!

I'm disappointed, having bought a new guitar at Christmas, I've still not gigged with it. Should have been out Friday night, but have a nasty cold and was really not up for playing.
