Guilty

Guilty on all charges. To be sentenced on Friday. Judge told him to expect a prison sentence. Didgeridoo going to be stuffed up where the sun don't shine :crying:

So he'll get to spend some time in Elmlea and drink in the Ferry Inn of a weekend.

His kangaroo is going to be well and truly tied down...

Sad news, I don't remember him every having that creepy/sleaziness that people like Saville had, he seemed more like a nice grandad figure.

They used to say that Joe Stalin looked like everyone's favourite uncle too.
Ted Bundy didn't look the type either.

Speaking as someone who loves drawing and grew up with the likes of Rolf as well as Tony Hart in the 70's and 80's, I do find it quite heartbreaking. I guess it's all in the hands of the law now.

My daughter and i were just discussing it a minute ago, such a shame it really is.. :(

That surprises me!
I always found him incredibly creepy as a child.

That's not to say that all paedos are creepy . . . or that all creepy people are paedos.
Just surprising how different people's perceptions can be.

Still find it hard to understand how this sort of thing can be proven some 40 years later.

Also wonder how much he is being judged on today's values. I am sure that pretty much every band of the 60s and 70s got up to stuff like this, using their fame and influence.

....and possibly being told wrong ages too!

I am actually struggling to understand how a "safe" conviction can be achieved by one persons word against anothers after this length of time.

It serves no good to prosecute after such a long time between offences. The man is nearly dead given his age, the punishment wouldn't have the effect it would had he been accused when he was even in his 60's. He is too old to commit these sort of crimes anyway, there is no public interest in pursuing this case never mind jailing him. He got away with it even if he was guilty, and I find it worrying he was found thus.

He's not too old to commit the same crimes now, that's daft. But part of me does believe that being convicted after this length of tome on just anecdotal evidence is a tad silly too.

Agreed on both counts.

I still find to believe, with MOST of the celebs being accused,
its smacks of jumping on the band wagon TBH.

I think it is a case of "Savile is dead and we failed in dealing with him, so to divert attention away from our failure, we need some high profile convictions."

Fair point, well presented

The 84-year-old assaulted four girls and young women, aged from seven to 19, and he will be sentenced on Friday

He's been found guilty so not sure why there are any conspiracies about Jimmy Savile. I would hope all people who did what Rolf Harris did are caught and jailed.

No one can argue with that in the slightest.
All we were saying, well I anyway, was that there are an awful lot of celebs that are being hauled up in front of the beak.
Some are found guilty some are not,

My understanding (from listening to what the CPS type said on the radio) a number of women who had no connection with each other and who couldn't have compared notes all said pretty much the same thing. Obviously the jury thought that that evidence was enough.

Yes, from my own experience, just about everyone in the public eye sometimes failed to say "No" to teenage girls back then - but we're not talking about girls who may not be as old as they say they are, we're talking about children - that is VERY different

I'm pleasantly surprised that many people here - and we're presumably a representative sample - seem to share what I can best describe as my "lack of outrage" at historic sexual abuse from what was a different age and a different society.

Got what he deservered just a shame its to late, remember this case was regarding 4 unique girls not just one person. All gave individual accounts. The victims may well get some closure on this and end years of doubt and shame, well said @Yves Geza
