Gry Garness Beauty Retouching DVD - Launch next week

It's not cheap at £130, but if you want to retouch beauty / portraits it's seriously worth considering.

If anyone has seen Gry's ebooks you'll know they're excellent, and if you have a look at her client list, you'll see she's pretty handy both with the camera and with the retouching too...

I've no commercial interest in this, but have benefitted from training from Gry and think this is worthwhile (I already have my copy on the way)

Then again, YouTube's free.... :)
 
Suprised that this got no response. Gry Garness is a fantastic re toucher and teacher. I have ordered my copy. If you want to know how to re touch properly then her web books and no doubt this dvd will be the best resourse.

I had never heard of her before but did have a look at her site but not sure I could bring myself to pay this much for tutorial DVD's. If it was an actual lesson or lessons and the DVD's were part of it then that would be different

Do they have music all the way through? One of my pet hates with tutorials is trying to concentrate on what someone is saying/doing with an extra sound in the background (or sometimes overpowering everything)

I've not seen this particular DVD of Guy's but I believe he uses calculations a lot for masking instead of selection tools. This is well worth learning how to do. Guy has some interesting workflow methods which you may find beneficial too.

You could break it down by what you're paying per hour of content though.

£43 for 80 minutes

or

£130 for 13 hours (plus there's a load of actions and presets on there too)

I think that for Guy's material, it's better value to sign up as a subscriber to his site. I think Tiler65 subscribes and could tell you what's available on the site.

Thanks, ill look into it a bit more, but after watching the video I think the Gry Garness may be the way to go.

Yeah I subscribed to the Guy Gowan, 90 ish euros I think.

A lot to take in at first but once you get the hang of what he is preaching it all slides into place nicely.

He adds a new tutorial and has 'live' seminars running and also has downloadable actions for PS.

I think it is good value for an intermediate like myself. Some of the more advanced stuff you may need Gry rather than Guy. (confusing eh!)

Im interested in one of her ebooks. Is the pdf they come as portable, i.e can you use them on multiple computers, transfer them on memory stick etc?
 
I bought the Gry Garness DVD's though another member who was getting rid of them and have to admit I am delighted. I have never had any formal training on photoshop but had picked up a lot through experimenting, trial, error and online tutorials.

These gave an excellent basis for working though Gry's DVDs and I am learning a lot from them and feel that once I have worked through and mastered the techniques that are new to me my skills will be many, many times improved.

I think a Photoshop beginner would really struggle with them but anyone who is already confident will learn a lot - you just need a good memory to remember all the keyboard shotcuts you need and clients who are willing to pay for your retouching skills :)

I put up some before and after portraits a while ago, when I have finished watching, absorbing and practicing what is on the DVD's I will have another go at the same image to see how my skills and methods have changed and improved.
