Group buy of film...

Hmm - that's a pity. It won't be worth ordering in a group if we can just order directly at the stated price for our own personal quantities...

But if we go directly to the supplier... waiting on Ilford, though I may give Fuji UK an email as well.

EDIT: OK, emailed Fujifilm UK to find out about minimum orders and prices etc.

Silverprint won't budge on price either - £2.03 the best we can do there so 7dayshop seems the best bet.

No reply from either Ilford or Fujifilm... small fry us eh?

Anyway, the moral of the story is probably that film is expensive unless we're buying very large quantities. We should probably nip this one in the bud ifotou?

EDIT: will keep my ear to the ground nevertheless...

is looking awful like it :(

i do have an email address for someone at fuji so i might try them they've always been quick at getting back to me.

All quite amazing, you would think in a recession firms wouldn't mind a very small profit just to keep the wheels turning.

Received an email from Ilford this morning - they can't supply based on 100 rolls (maybe 1000 rolls :naughty:) though they will try to put me in touch with a distributor who can supply as a discounted rate... not expecting much though

ifotou, I've also emailed Ilford to see if they can sell directly to me...

Ilford are a bit odd in this respect. On their website, it states you can order from them and they'll send your order to a participating dealer for you to collect.

About 2 months ago, I ordered some chemicals from them as I had loads of films to do and my local Jessops no longer stocks any. I paid over the phone with a credit card, and they told me they could deliver my order to either a shop in Manchester, or to Bob Rigby's in Bollington, near Macclesfield.

Now bearing in mind that I only live about 6 or 7 miles from Mobberley, I asked if I could pick up the order from them directly. This way it would be quicker for me, and at the same time, it would save them getting somebody to transport the stuff all the way to Macclesfield. Now I can understand if I was paying for the stuff at the shop when I collect it, as I wouldn't want to rob the shop of any business, but I had already paid Ilford when I placed my order.

So the chemicals were taken to Bob Rigby's (which is nearly 20 miles from where I live) and the driver would have had to come back to Mobberley. I then get in my car and drive 20 miles to the shop, pick up my stuff, and drive another 20 miles back home.

The girl on the phone admitted it would have been easier for me to collect from them, and they were going to look at this in the near future. We'll see.

Yep, basically come down to the fact that unless you're buying and selling film as a business with at least £20K turn over per year, you're going to pay the same as everyone else...

Just noticed this guy on evil Bay selling in-date Ektachrome E100G for £17.50 for 5 rolls of 35mm. Bought one box earlier and will let everyone know how it went, though I thought this forum would like to know as he only have 3 more boxes left
