Gritty type locations

I'm looking for 'gritty' type locations for a shoot around the Gatwick area anyone know of any that might fit the below.

The kind of thing I am looking for:

Urban decay/ing
Industrial abandoned or otherwise
Building decaying/ruins

I shot at the Gatwick Aviation Musuem earlier this year. The owner Peter, required a dontation to the museum to be able to shoot. There are lot's of planes in various states of decay.

Are you fairly local and looking for something specific, or are you unfamiliar with the area and just want to know where all the warehouses etc are?

I know the area fairly well and am looking for something specific if possible but will obviously recee locations before hand unless anyone has images of the loc etc

Nothing springs to mind. I've had this problem myself when looking for similar locations to waste some film on. What about the car scrapyard at Pease Pottage?

I seem to recall that theres a disused hospital/asylem near Tonbridge can anyone shed any light on it for me?

A little bit away from you is west Thurrock, Graves end and grays, all along the river there is gritty and industrial especially Gravesend, northfleet and east hithe, very industrial and Gray also a good place because Dartford crossing could be used as a back drop see here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
