Came across this on e.bay anybody tried one or give advice on any other grips for a Canon350
Dont really want to go for the more expensive original Canon job cos i dont know whether i will use it much until i try it

The link's not working for me, however, i love the 350D with a grip. It's heavy but the Camera feels so much more stable with it on.

i hate grips - reliability is everything - if it does not work when you need it then it is worth nothing

if you need it the buy one if you do not "need" it then don't - it is another thing that can go wrong (in my experience they do go wrong - event the canon version)

Walt, it may be worth popping into your local camera store and try one out as if it doesnt suit, you've lost nothing whereas if it does, you're better going for the best ... canon :)

Now that seems like a good plan Gary cheers

I have a third party grip for my 350D, makes it so much better to handle. Even more so with a big chunky lens on the end.

I had the chance to use my brother's Canon grip on a 400d for a few weeks before deciding on one; it made the camera feel much nicer in the hand, better balanced with long lenses and just more substantial.

As I'm a cheapskate when I bought one I went for a Phottix one from ebay, feels just as good as the Canon jobbie works perfectly and cost about a third of the price with a couple of spare batteries thrown in. You do hear people say don't touch the third party ones but I'm convinced this is based on hearsay and rumour rather than direct experience of 'em, so I'd say go for it and save some cash.

HTH,

since adding a battery grip to my 400d ive found i can hold my 75-300 steady enough whereas without it i struggle to hold it still ..

Will be getting a 70-300 canon myself so thats good to know

Thanks Gaz81 and Loosehead for the comments on the third party grips i think being a tight a***d yorkshireman i may give one a go

How much would you offer for a 2nd hand Original 400d canon Battery grip boxed with everything?

As i said in the original thread i`m not sure whether i will use a grip much so would prefer you to quote a price then i dont offend you by offering you well below what you might want
