Been thinking about it for a while now and while doing a search on eBay I noticed kerso was selling some for £149

Has anyone here got a grip and if so is it worth the £££, I have heard some reports of faults with the battery meter has anyone experienced this.

the MB D10 is a great grip. It's made from magnesium & performs really well. Much better build quality than those for the D200 & D80.

I find it really balances the camera in my large hands nicely.

I've just bought one this week. I find the cameras without grips too small for my hands to hold comfortably. I sold my D200 and bought a D2x because the grip was awful. So since I bought my D300 I've hated using it as it's too small to be comfortable, and I was really worried about the grip being too wobbly like the D200 one. But I've been surprised. It's really solid and pretty comfortable. Not quite D3 comfortable, but almost there.

I've actually not used it enough to have found any problems but I'll probably use it tomorrow a bit so fingers crossed.

Pete

The only thing you should be aware of is that the shutter release on the grip is hyper sensitive. It can be tricky to half-press to focus, then shoot. And, on CH, you rattle of several shots.

Having said that I wouldn't be without mine.

The D200 grip was so poor it is now consigned to a drawer in my office! Interesting to hear the comments about the MB D10 though.

Glad to hear the good feedback for the grip. I have one on order that I hope will arrive tomorrow.

Don't forget the other benefit of having the grip is 8fps when using the en-el4 or AA batteries.

My grip arrived this morning. At 7:30, why do Royal Mail never come that early in the week. It's very nice. Just tried it with some AA batteries, 8fps sounds insane, though you do have to take out the en-el battery , otherwise it stays as 6fps.

Got mine yesterday, i now have a Sub machine gun. I am getting 8fps with the en-el in the camera and AA's in the grip.

With the sb800 and 80-200 i need arms like arnie to hold it

Really. I'll have to check again.

Check you have the Camera set to use the Grip battery first.

Also some sony eneloop AA batteries which hold their charge for months mioght be a good idea to keep in the bag.

I have the EN-EL3e in camera and an EN-EL4A in the grip and I get the 8fps. Not sure if setting which battery is used first has an effect on the firing rate. One problem with 8fps though is that its quite hard to take just one shot. By the time you've jabbed the shutter release, I will have taken at least 2 shots of the same thing.

Just checked. That was the problem, it was looking for the internal battery first. That will teach me for not looking at the instructions.

MK, have you got the official Nikon EN-EL4A and charger or a generic one? Any links where I can find them at a reasonable price?

Ive got the official ones. Bought the battery new and managed to pick up a charger and BL-3 second hand from someone on the Nikon Cafe forums. They are silly expensive arn't they?
