I'll bet the Board has let people know I'm here, so I suppose an intro is in order: Been doing the photography thing for only about 6 months, and the first 6 weeks of that was nothing but theory (no shooting) and some writing.
As such, I may not say too much, but I'll be around ... listening

For "practice", I've been using a Nikon ES5400, and I continue to return to it when it feels like things are getting "out of control" per se.

For more "serious" attempts, I use a Canon 5d2 -- it's a pretty unbelievable contrast. It really drove home the kind of advancements the technology has made in 12 odd years.
I noticed the "Camera Bag" feature of this Forum, and thought it was neat, but possibly too pretentious for my experience.
