Greetings all first post
Being a moderator on another forum (not photography related), we always like to see a little more background to a new member, rather than a generic hello, so here goes
Started with my Fathers Pentax SLR when he bought a Canon A1 in the 1980s I later bought a Canon AE-1, motor wind, flash, lenses etc. Mostly used for photographing motorsport (stage rallies), and general holiday snaps. Occasional proper shots taken, and experimented with home-made sound and infra-red flash triggers.
Sold up in 1999 and went digital (0.85 mega-pixels) with an Olympus Camedia SLR. Used primarily to document our rallying exploits (I had become a navigator) and provided many snaps for our then website. Had a brief encounter with a Concord 3mp compact (it broke), although bought a new Fujifilm Finepix S9600 bridge camera in 2007.
With the settings available on the Fuji, I regained an interest in proper (i.e. composed rather than snaps) photography. Whilst I had vacated the navigators seat, I now spend my leisure time either marshalling motorsport events (4x4 and Rally) or recreational green laning this latter activity gets me out into the wilds for a variety of scenic opportunities.
Just after Christmas, I treated myself to a DSLR (Cannon EOS 550D) and look forward to taking my re-emerging hobby to a higher level. Having browsed this forum for the last few evenings, I have been inspired by some of the compositions and the subject matter. There are a few images I hope to emulate (well, the techniques at least), so I apologise now if what I submit later is a little samey.
Looking forward to a little banter, interaction and some C&C.
