weekly Greenoak's 52 - Week 31 - MONO added

Nice strong image and bang on the money theme wise!

Hi CArl

I missed you original shot fo Season but quite like the 2nd one .The tinsel adds a little something...end of the christmas season.. so on theme....not so sure about the crop  Maybe letterbox or square , whichever, just to make the trunk less central :)

Gravity.

I have really struggled this week. I came up with the idea of falling dominoes early in the week but I did not own any. I go out in snow on Tuesday and borrow some from the pub. I then spend 3 evenings trying to get enough light to get a fast enough image. Pointless waste of time. and of course i cannot knock them over myself and press shutter in fast shoot mode.

Then today I see a perfectly shot dominoe photo and just wanted to give up.

My image is rubbish. Please no crit. I just want to move on to Wild and forget this week.

So that's NOT your finger then carl?

At least you've had the idea - taken the shot - and had the balls to post it up rather than quitting.

You've done your own crit - lets see Wild knocked out the park this week mate..

This. Now move on

Cheers.

OK. Thanks to the challenge I had a lovely day at Cotswold wildlife park, and here is a couple of friends.

Red pandas, love this shot, one of my daughters favourite animals :)

I would have liked more of the right side panda but getting both in shot was a minor miracle in itself. They move very fast and don't sit and pose. I spent an hour trying to get a decent shot.

First time use of tc with my 70 - 200.

Well done carl - you've come back with a strong shot this week - not an easy subject to get a great shot of; so .

Love the closeness of the two of them, and the colours of the panda's are great and the texture in the tree adds to it.

DOF used well here to blow the background details in order to emphasise the subjects - well done.

Awww how cute! How can anyone not like that shot

Great capture of a difficult subject, lovely DOF and colour, top job.

Great shot Carl, really really good image and colours on this

My photo for week 5 - Space .

This is the roof sculpture of Radcliffe Observatory in Oxford, it was the astronomical observatory of the University of Oxford from 1773 until 1934, when the Radcliffe Trustees sold it

John Bacon designed the two statues (in cast iron) of Atlas and Hercules who support the globe, so I think that its an observatory and the sculpture is the globe makes this suitable for SPACE

Beautiful afternoon in Oxford, so nice and quick off the mark.. Dust spot now cloned out

Wow that was nice and quick! Only thing i can say is i would clone the dark spot out at the top of the photo.

Top work - like the horizontal line along the bottom - perfectly on theme.....

Just the dust spot to go and you're there.

Thank you guys. Sensor now cleaned :-)

Carl, Red Pandas is a beautiful photo, with the colours, depth and perspective.
Space, a good photo well in theme, intuitive and with good light.

Space is great, or will be once the dust spot has been removed! Great work... but now you've nothing to do for the rest of the week.

i like the picture as in the object is interesting and the sky is a really nice blue, but I think it could do with a better crop to remove some of the building it is sitting on

Limited time, I'm afraid, so quick comments...

Wild, lovely colours and well exposed. Bit more of the lower one for me.

Space, well spotted and on theme for me. One of them where a clean blue sky works. Although loads of space around the globe, I'm not keen on the central composition,

Cheers.

Would only agree with what the others have said, great shot

Lovely colours in your wild shot - appreciate how difficult it is to capture, but a little more of the panda to the right would've been nice! Great shot though.

Space - Like it! Good take on the theme too. Have you HDR'd it at all? Seems to be some mild halo effect around the subject, not that noticeable though. Only crit would be the roof line is perhaps a little distracting, so maybe play with the crop a little? Nice work!

love the red pandas they are beautiful, nice colours depth and perspective

space is bang on theme.. great light and like the blue sky

Hi Karl

Wild......love it  beautiful creatures, good colors , nice DOf...yup , love it

Space.....blue sky ???? love the lighting...just a hint of sunlight catching the statue & well exposed  I'd maybe be tempted to crop out the building & lose a touch from the rhs ?

Well I was driving into work and saw the sun shining on our entrance so grabbed a quick shot. Nothing special but I liked the texture of the stone.

I agree and like the textures of the wall.

How do you manage to leave the animals there and not take them all home? :)

As Lisa above has said, nice textures on the wall, nice and sharp too. :)

Thanks guys.

I work with computers and don't see much of the pets. I have come close to taking home the cats many times...

OK onto GLUTTONY. I did not want to do the obvious plates of food or cakes etc.

Gluttons are often called PIGS so I went in search of pigs and very surprisingly I found some running free in the woods of a very very posh country house I visited to take photos on a snowdrop walk.

I choose a single pig as I loved the colours of the woodlands in the sunshine plus the pig called "Marilyn" was looking towards me.. No PP as I like it just as it is.
