Greengo's TP52 2016 - Week 50 & 51 Added

Hi Colin

Two great submissions for Static and Game.

The lighthouse looks like the ones I used to see in Florida. The framing is a bit strong but it suits it.

Game, nice dof and rich but muted colours suit it. It seems a little soft on my iPad o_O

So heres my submission for "SERENE"...
What nicer than a lovely sunset over a lake on a fine summers evening...

I'd just like to thank all those of you who have commented on my photos this year... It's very heartening to see your interest and thoughts on my work... I may not comment on everyones stuff, and this is partially down to work commitments etc, but believe me it doesnt go unappreciated...
hanks again folks...

Lovely setting, great colours, very serene.

That is a beautifully taken shot Colin - excellent composition and fabulous colours. Certainly Serene.

That's a beauty Colin.
What a beautiful spot to watch the sun go down.

Hmm, not so sure about the dark framing for the light house shot, though I do like the idea of shooting close up through the trees and it fits the 'static' theme well.
I agree with brrnd regarding 'game'. The obvious focus point is the car, but it looks like it's actually the hotel (it looks like missed ficus). Of course, you could have been aiming for the hotel...
Serene - I really like that. Nice silhouetting of the foreground, detail on the horizon, setting sun and reflection, blue sky with wispy clouds. What's not to like (y)

Week 35 - Black & White
Dug out one of my favourite pics that I deliberately took to highlight the comparison between black & white... a bride in her white dress and a pint of the black stuff...
Also being a fan of drinking guinness it would be rude not to include an image of it on its own... with a colour back ground I think the writing on the glass and the creamy white top stands out more...
Hope you like them...

#1 for me, great composition and DoF.

First one for me!
Masking on the 2nd catches the eye a little (yellowness outside of the harp) and the crop looks a little off level (perhaps "on the p*ss" would be more appropriate! :exit:) - so yeah, number 1 for me!

I know I said it already Colin but that first one is a cracking shot, spot on!! I like the second too, nice bit of bokeh in the background!

Sorry catching up on comments

Active - B/W really suits it
Life - I like the idea but think it would be better to crop some of the top out and concentrate on the street activity
Hidden - I too like the starburst
Lone - lovely shot and again B/W suits it.
Fauna - lovely scene plenty of flora OH NO shame about the deer - I believe you
Static - l like the light house but not the framing
Game - good set up great image of an iconic game
Serene - stunning shot love it
Black and White - I prefer the 1st of the 2

aw snap catch up time again...
Week 36 - Ancient...
This is a statue near where I live of an old Ancient mythological charachter called Nuada who was the first king of the Tuatha Dé Danann...

Week 37 - Urban
This was shot outside St. Georges Market in Belfast...

Week 38 - Pair
This was taken inside said market... its a PAIR of Hares...

Excellent catch-up Colin. Quite an imposing figure for Ancient which is my fave of three - nice detail and sky.

Colin,
B&W - defo #1. The contrast between the in focus Guinness and the oof bride is spot on. Her expression is great too. Love it (y).
Ancient - Liking the imagery and the explanation, it's lacking a little contrast, I think the blacks may need to be deeper. Have a play with the black & white points and see what you think.
Urban - I'm not sure about the format, I can see what you're getting at, but there is a lot of dead space, I think there is a better shout in there by cropping.
Pair - Watership down characters? Sorry but the background is a bit distracting, maybe stepping to your left would have given you teh drape as the background (but what do I know, I wasn't there).

Catch up again and I have to shoot alien yet so heres my two for weeks 39 Big & 40 After

Week 39 BIG
On a nice day I like to walk about and try and catch some nice images with a clear sky and sunshine. I saw this lovely "BIG" church on my travels and thought yeah why not...
big.jpg

Week 40 - AFTER
And whilst out and about on a sunny day, which can be few & far between, its nice to capture an image "AFTER" the sun sets... this was just about to set as you can see some rays making their final attempt at light after the sun had dipped below the horizon...
after.jpg

Hope you like them... Hope they're not too snap shotty DK ;)

Hi Colin

I really like the PoV for Big it really highlights the size of the church

After I really like that lovely subtle light it may be me but it looks a little noisy

Great low PoV for big, makes the grey church stand out against the blue sky and the green foreground.

I love the rest of sunlight after the sun has set. Maybe the RHS of the frame is a bit too dark for me.

Hi Colin,
I appreciate it's the perspective, but the church feels a bit wonky and also as if it's falling back a bit to me.
Not much you can do about it though, unless the original shot has a fair bit more space around it, as transforming the edges and adding vertical perspective correction ends up with a very tightly cropped image.

I quite like the sunset shot, it's great when the clouds play ball. Is it a tad blue though? maybe add a bit of orange would emphasise the sun itself?
