Greatest cycling video of all time ?

Danny McCaskill who is riding in the vid with Martyn Ashton has done a great one called Imaginate. There is a great documentry which has been playing on Dave recently about the making of it:

they are all awesome riders road bike party only came out 4 days ago and is already at nearly 4.5 million views!!!

If you don't know the history of these guys. Martyn broke his back at the beginning of September doing a display at Silverstone. He was due to film the remaining tricks for the video the following week. Danny and Chris stepped up to help Martyn complete his project and this is the result.

Good Luck to Martyn on his long road to recovery

Dislocated T9 and T10 veribrae and loss of feeling below the injury.

On 6 months immobility before further assessment.

Absolutely gutting. Martyn and Martin (Hawes), who incidentally was the guy at the start of the video on the rollers, launched popularity of mtb trials in the uk back in the 90s.

I love this stuff. Martyn Ashton and the mbuk team back in 1998 were the reason I learned to bunny hop and then progress from there and upgrade my bike. Superb video. Gutted I missed the show on Dave

Wish I could ride half as well as them!

Time to start learning again I think.

It probably is one of the best cycling videos of all time! Imaginate is too though!

I hadn't heard about Martyn - hope he makes a full recovery. I too remember the MBUK days, and my kids had their shirts signed by the Marty/ins, Rob Warner & Steve Peat at a bike show about 10-12 years ago. The guys were really friendly. FWIW those who remember Kelli Salone would be interested to know she's resurface recently, and has been posting on Facebook in the MB Swindon club pages.

Check Dave, I caught a repeat a week ago.

The problem with things like that is the riders are always seeking to come up with more daring stunts which carry a higher risk.
They know they'll have accidents but reading about Martyn's injury puts it all in perspective as to just how much of a risk they take to keep people entertained.
Genuinely hope he makes a good recovery, he has a very positive attitude which will help him, whatever the outcome.
For those who want to follow his progress he has a FB fan page here on which he posts regular updates.

For the record his accident happened while doing probably one of the most unassuming part of the bike show, the balance beam. Granted its about 12ft up but it's not a backflip. It was just unfortunate how he landed.

Even looking at the out takes I was wincing!
12 feet is a considerable drop regardless of how you land, landing on your back from that height just doesn't bear thinking about!

Read that earlier, the photo of the MRI scan is pretty horrific!
