I stumbled across this .psd file to demonstrate how you set up your lighting. I think it would be a handy resource for TP users as we could share our lighting rigs and allow everyone to learn from it.

My first example is the shot I did of my son a few days ago and first I have included the setup which is much easier than trying to explain it:

And the result:

I have that psd file :D Such a good way of showing your lighting set up's. I've used it before in the past but just remember not to save over the OG psd file!!! (I havent yet but some people I know have!)

A snoot is a cone which is all black that creates a more pin point light. Therefore it is used to only light up cetain places. Kind of like a spot light.

In this case the SB-800 with the snoot is to act like a rim light to make the person head stand out from the background, so he doesn't blend with the black backdrop. (Well thats what I like anyway?!)

does this psd file need photoshop to work?

Cheers Hacker - will come in handy for a 'tography booklet I'm writing for my employers. Top stuff :)

Ooh this looks good ...... and perfectly timed. Will download now.

Thanks Colin.
