Hi

Just completed a 1 day studio lighting workshop with Garry Edwards in his studio in Bradford last weekend and would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about using studio light creatively. (or the real, non text book way!)

It was a fun and interesting day, in a relaxed and informal environment and Garry clearly demonstrated his expert knowledge of lighting techniques. He was keen to expand our knowledge by encouraging us to learn by allowing us to use his lighting equipment, and to make changes to the set up.

Garry had a good rapport with his beautiful model Cassie, who was very relaxed and professional.

The day helped me to think about the reasons for taking a photograph, what is its purpose and who is it for and therefore how to make the most of the models features by controlling shadow.

Now just need to put it into practice!

Thanks for a great day Garry! very good food for thought. (& for all your help and advice before & after)

It would be great if they ever ran a workshop in the North...unfortunately too far for me...

Do you have a link for the course? I might be interested in attending.

Thanks,

Michael

That's all we can do I'm afraid, one in Maidstone and one in Bradford. We do get people travelling long distances to them, the lighting workshop in September had someone from Southern Ireland and someone from Essex, and we've had people travelling far further than Glasgow - there was someone from Aberdeen once:)

Estelle has posted one of her shots from the day in the nude & glamour forum here. She did well.

There are just 2 more dates left this year, one in each venue. If there is enough interest I hope that they will run again from next April, but that isn't certain.

Just signed up for the Maidstone venue, about 2 miles away which means more time in bed. though I am nervous already!

Thank you E5telle, for bringing the thread and allowing me to hijack your original thread.

Don't worry - it's been a while since we had anybody run out of the course in tears ;)

yep - when you've met Jonathan for 5 minutes you'll be more worried about him then worried by him

It looks like I am going to be in safe knowledgable hands, he should at least be going home knowing his day job is safe.

Some lovely work from both of your sites BTW.
