I've just bought one of these:

(sellers pics)

It's called a Pop up Blind, and erects in less than 10 seconds!!

I should now be able to get up really close and use the 200mm 2.8:lol: :woot:

Looks like a crib for adults :cuckoo:

daft question - but how do you get into it?

I'll tell you once it's arrived, and I figure it out:lol:

You could put it around one of those old people scooters, then you could drive around while nearly invisible.

With the lens sticking out shouting "Exterminate , Exterminate"

On a more serious note , where did you get it from ???

And how much??

Looking for a quickly erected hide for wildlife??

or from missus

For those that wished to know, I bought it unused from a member of an airgun club, but they can be bought quite cheaply. They have them here at £55, normally £100, but out of stock.

Just put 'Ameristep' in the search box, and you'll find quite a few in the UK.

Mine was purchased in the US - I can't find a stockist in UK.

Think our cat could also use it, but not I hope as a litter tray!

Seriously, looks interesting.

Anyone else got any ideas for a rapidly erected hide?

George

Be interested to know how successful that nice comfy looking hide is Doug ...

:p

i,m glad to see the chair has somewhere to put your bottle or can of beer!:woot:

You can take photo with 50mm never mind the 200mm!!

Cool outfit, let us know what it likes...

looks like there is no floor to it, so you kind of put it on like and oversized jumper? and then slowly creep towards the birds or lion (gigle) or watever you want to photgraph

just my guess of course

Nice bit of kit Doug. The thing is of course how compact and light it is to carry along with all the other stuff you typically take -it all mounts up in the end. Looks pretty good though.

Have look at the photo of the cammo screen in this thread

CLICKY

I used to use this stuff it's excellent, lightweight and rolls up very compact. It can often be erected in a gap in a hedegrow or between bushes for a quick hide.

If you have any shooting supply shops in your area they'll often have something similar with lightweight hide poles to erect it on.

Until yesterday, CT, I didn't even know these things existed. I saw it for sale, and now I don't know how I'll be able to do without it!

To tell the truth, I was thinking about buying some cam scrim, and draping it over an old frame tent frame, but this seems much the better option.

Being partially disabled, I don't get out much in the country these days, and if I do, I mostly stick to made up tracks and paths. The idea of squatting in an hedgerow, covered with a smelly cam net (I was in the forces, so I know only too well what a damp cam net smells like)*, positively repels:gag:

* Feline do do!!

Fair does Doug ..it looks way cool and convenient.

The things some people will do to get pics of long tail tits

C.T. thanks, that looks good, we have a good stretch of shoreline on a Scottish island and I'm always looking to get closer to the action - Otters, loads of birds etc. Will be playing with my new 100/400 IS soon so this kind of thing would be good.

Cheers,

George

 Don't have any long tail tits however, in fact none at all!!!

Wearing clothing that blends into the country goes a long way. You often just need to keep still. You don't need to look like Action Man...Barbour jackets and that sort of stuff blends quite nicely.

"real tree" is very popular amoungst the huntin' fishin' shootin' community these days, its not the cheapest camo' type but very strong and realistic

Just had a vision of you pulling back the curtains and finding Doug in your garden ogling your tits. :D

He he he:lol:

If I had any LTTs:love: , This might have made things easier:bang:

When you have been pigeon shooting as often as CT and myself you know these things eh Cedric..

What really bugs me now Tim is all the foldable hide stuff and cammo netting I sold when I packed it in. Wisdom of hindsight.

Hmmm may have to pop in on my next trip to Scotland ;) Wild Otters! :)

I had three days wildfowling on the Solway Firth a few years ago and it never stopped raining, but I didn't know you could get that cold and still be alive.
