I went to the show last month mainly to find a new tripod. I wanted something tall and sturdy, but still quite light for landscapes. I was hoping to find something for a little less money that the Gitzo I had almost resigned to buying.
One of the first stands I visited was Vanguard. They had a show special, the ABEO Plus323CT for £200 including the BBH-200 ballhead. It was really sturdy, very tall (with centre column all the way down my camera eyepiece is exactly my eye level, I'm 6ft) and carbon. Basically exactly what I wanted and only £200 so I bought it.
I had thought that the small attachment on the bottom of the centre column could be used instead of the centre column to get low to the ground. When I got home I realised my mistake.
So, a few days ago I called Vanguard. They didn't sell a short column for my model, but took my details to pass onto their tech guy. He called me back later that day confirming there was no short option, so I asked if I could buy another original centre column which I could then cut down. After checking on stock he offered to put one in the post for me. I asked how much I owed him and he replied "nothing, call it customer service". It arrived today.
I'm quick to complain when I get bad service. This was great service IMO so thank you Vanguard.
