Yes
Well I was talking to the Asda girl about scanning negs:- first question could she scan higher? Answer is NO as the machine is locked by the engineers...and 2nd could I bring my own negs in to be scanned? And she said Yes...huh  as that means Asda will scan up to 38 negs to a CD for 99p

Won't they be doing scans before cutting? So if you take in your own - presumably cut - negs the story might change? What kind of resolution are you getting out of Asda scans anyway?

Well I was thinking that as well, also some of my colour negs go back 45 years so problems getting the colours right...I'm sure they do the scanning before cutting and resolution is about 1800X1200 which is good enough for a computer screen, and any winners you can always have them drum scanned or use a V500 etc Anyway I going to put together a mix and match of negs to get done but first I'll have to give them a wash even though many have been in sleeves.

Depending on their minilab they may well do it. Many minilabs are fully capable of scanning 120, but just not set up to dev it, if you ask you may be pleasantly surprised

Ah! "north of Watford" ;)
.

Well - as a Leeds based ogranisation - thats well north of Watford incidentally, for all you shandy-drinkers - in the "beyond here there be dragons" part of the map - Asda does tend to roll out its plans outwards from the head office, so you lot down in the backwaters like london will probably get to keep your minilabs for a bit longer than we did...

erm isn't Asda's head office in Leeds a side show as the owner is Walmart in the US :exit:

true enough - but Leeds is still the main point of contact for the wallymart mothership - via the usual chain of intermediate companies like Corinth Services...

Asda's still run from Leeds - it's just owned by Wallmart who are pf course American.
Any initiatives like minilabs will be a UK/Leeds decision.
