Hi, has anyone had dealings with the above, and if so was there grading system accurate.

I have used them a few times. They service is first class, there is a 12 months warranty on all their second hand equipment. I bought new so not sure about their grading but I'm sure it will be very good.

My mate has bought a camera and various s/h lens from them and never had any problems. Very good service.

Another satisfied customer here - they are very helpful and really know their stuff.

Oh, and I phoned my order at 4.45pm on a Friday - they said they would try and catch the last post and sure enough it arrived in Scotland the following morning!

Heartily recommended. Just don't be tempted to visit unless you've plenty of bounce left in your plastic. They've got everything Nikon !

I've shopped there too, are you impressed? :D

Seriously they have lots of rich and famous people as customers, I wouldn't base a purchase on that.

I've always found their grading to be bang on, their prices however are usually "rich".

Nick.

I bought a 500 f4 from them, new but the previous non VR model. As it was new, it came with 3 years warranty.

After a few months the hood retaining screw stripped it's thread, it is a poor design, so I called Grays ... sorry that is not covered under warranty.

They did give me a useful number for Nikon spares where I bought the part for £11.00.

In the meantime I tapped a 5mm thread into the part on the hood, and use a 5mm plastic bolt from my astronomy gear spares box, works a treat.

I have kept the spare part in the packet in case I sell the lens, I can put it on so the lens is as original.

Now I felt that when I was sold something with warranty it covered the complete item, obviously in Gray's world it does not, shame really because I would never shop there again, as their warranty obviously means nothing.

You won't find a more knowledgeable dealer on Nikon... probably anywhere in the world.

Oh, and great service !

Thanks for all the replys guys. I am trying to get hold of one in at least excellent plus condition.

If it was new, the warranty would have been with Nikon, not Grays surely... did you check with Nikon if it was under warranty?

No, the purchase was with the dealer not the manufacturer, they should correct it if the warranty covered it by returning it if needs be to the manufacturer.

Technically correct - however the decisions on these things is made by the manufacturer, not the reseller. You could take your product into any Nikon approved repair centre, it doesn't have to be the one you purchased from.

However, doesn't stop the fact that they should have done more for you, even if it was a quick email/phone call to Nikon to ask.

I bought a used Nikon D3 from Greys that was described as mint- with less than 4000 activations, when I received it it was cosmetically mint but after shooting a few images I dicovered the sensor was absolutely minging, and on checking it had taken in excess of 15,000 shots. I rang Greys to tell them I was sending it back as it was within the 7 days (DSR) I explained why I was sending it back and they apologised and said they would look into it.

The following day I visited Mifsuds and bought a new Canon 5D with a few Canon lenses and sold my D200 and D70 and range of Nikon lenses,

Two days later, I received a telephone call from the Manager of Greys who expressed his concern at the condition of the D3 that had been sent out to me, apparently it was not the one advertised but another that had only recently come ino the shop and had not been cleaned or authenticated and had been sent out by mistake. He stated that in recompense he would send out a NEW unopened D3 to me as a straight replacement for the one I had returned. I thanked him for his offer but told him that I had moved to Canon in the preceeding time.

I would deal with them again without hesitation if they had something I wanted.

I would have been happy for them to provide me with the £11.00 part for me to fit, a small gesture considering the cost of the lens.

For the sake of £11 I really could not be bothered to push the matter, especially as my fix is a far better method.

I thought that it was poor customer service on their part, they would have to be the only shop with an item available for me to purchase from them again.
