Just back from seeing this movie in 3D. Wow what a ride!

If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it.
 
Definitely on my "to see" list :)

Sure is Nod. But let's remember, it's a film not a documentary! Don't let trivia like that ruin it for you :-)
 
TBH, I'm not much of a movie goer - I tend to wait until it's out on DVD then watch it in comfort (with the ability to pause for "comfort breaks" if/when needed! nobody's 2nd hand chewing gum on the seats either!!!
 
I've just read there is a companion short film to this that will be available as an extra on the blu-ray. Sounds very interesting!
 
Was in two minds but looks like its a must see then

Apparently Nasa reckon the film is quite authentic, the only thing they picked up on was Sandra should have been wearing a nappy instead of knickers.
 
I went to see the film yesterday and enjoyed it more than I expected. The graphics were amazing and immersive, I went to watch it in 3D and had to fight back the feeling of falling into the screen several times, never felt vertigo like it.

Scientifically it's supposed to be quite accurate and I found Sandra Bullock did her role very well, and there were a few moments where I had to fight back being teary eyed.

If you have an opportunity to see in cinema (3d even better) I thoroughly recommend it.
 
The trailer reminds me of the fictitious film Julia Roberts was supposedly in while starring as a film star in Notting Hill The movie with Hugh Grant....

I just cant get on with these special effect epics.....
 
Always had a soft spot pot for Sandra, reckon I'll pop along then.....
 
i worked on 2001 a space odyssey back in the 60s on special effects ,its amazing what can be done on a unlimited budget .we used to have regular lectures on realistic scenario's from guys from nasa and the smithsonian institute .

I saw that film aged around 8 (taken up to London by my father) sometime in the late 60s - it's a favourite for the effects among other things. The stewardess that walks 'up' the cabin wall on velcro shoes was fantastic, even though it's obvious.

unfortunately not how it was done ,i don't think velcro was even invented back then ,it was a huge centrifuge tank ,like a wall of death motorbike tank if my memory serves me rightly the camera was shooting from above as she walked round ..i did most of the paintwork on the orion space ship ,the film took up over half of mgm elstree studio lots
 
Thanks - I didn't mean she was being held on with velcro, but in the film there's a close up of a stewardess in those slippers that makes it *look* as if they are gripping the floor. Thanks for the WoD explanation - that was what I expected when I said it was obvious, but it's good to have it confirmed. I hope you felt really pleased with the overall effect that was achieved, because it set the expectations of a generation of scifi fans.
 
Saw gravity last night and all I can say is meh!

Visually impressive, especially in 3d.

Storyline? Basic at best, written by a 5 year old.

Won't see it again, would be average to poor on DVD as it won't be as epic as the big screen.
 
Wanted to watch it until someone on facebook posted what happens GRRR!!!!

Hopefully very soon it comes out on bluray and I'll get it :D
 
Managed to get out for a while and saw this, rubbish, and Bullocks whining voice is as irritating as ever, waste of money
 
Saw this today and thought it good but not great - lack a bit of depth for me, not sure I cared enough about the main characters 'story'. A solid 7/10 for me.
 
LOL thought it would be a stinker......visual effects artist wet dream - All too often films are relying on the visuals and it cant carry a film and comming out of a cinema with that "waste of money feeling" is the worst thing for a film buff and its happening all to often for me.

The next thing is the remake of the remake of the original - Hollywood is truly running out of ideas.
