Just buying the bits I need to upgrade my old PC so I can run Photoshop, I’ve got everything I need in my basket except for a graphics card.

Any recommendations on which one to go for? I have about £200 to spend on it, but the computer will primarily be used for Photoshop, web browsing/streaming. I might occasionally want to play a game of War Thunder but that’ll be the extent of it.

FWIW, my parts list as it stands is as follows:

AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processor
MSI Pro B-650S Motherboard
32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM
3TB SSD Storage

I plan to reuse my existing Cooler Master case, and my current 750W PSU.

When I built mine in 2023 I bought an RTX3060 at that time it was very a 'push the boat out' but now they are a bargain.

Building now it is still a good choice IMO but if you spend a bit(?) more the RTX 4070 ?

Are cards like the RTX3060 going to be OK with a 750W PSU or do I need a new one of those too?

What about an MSI GeForce RTX 3050?

If you input the parts you have, or are thinking of getting, into PCPartPicker, it will add up and estimate the power needed as you add the parts, and also highlight any incompatibilities.

I thought it was only with the high end 4000 series that the power needs ramped up for the graphics card though, and 750watts may be OK.

A 750W PSU should be plenty assuming it's a decent brand name one. It's not a power hungry card and I'm currently running an RTX 3080 on an 850w PSU along with a number of hard drives, SSDS, optical drive etc. without issue and that is a much more demanding card on power.

Since you don't have demanding 3D needs the RTX 3050 is probably worth considering as well since you're still getting the newer feature set the RTX 3000 cards offer.

For me I have always had bigger PSU than might be 'required' on the basis of keeping the demand under the max 850W capacity in this last build.
As @JohnMcL7 I have a fair bit in the box.....2 off M2 drives and 3 off HDDs and the aforementioned RTX3060
NB my Corsair 850W PSU has passive cooling unless it goes above I think 65% demand and frankly I don't think the fan has ever ran that much.

That’s for all the replies. I went for an RX 6600 in the end, it compared quite well with the 3060 but was within budget.

Parts have started arriving so hopefully I’ll be up and running soon.

Just built myself a PC for LR+PS + Topaz and went for the RTX4060. Like you it was over my budget but bang for bucks I decided to up the budget, not had the chance to fully test yet but Topaz is much much faster as is LR loading and edits....

Good luck with whatever you choose !
