I've been thinking of getting a graphic tablet, but have never used one and wondered if anybody else had, and if they are a lot better and easier to use than a mouse when comes to photos editing?
Opinions will differ on this. I have a large graphic tablet I've had for years but rarely use it. I find I can do anything just as well with a mouse, but I've been using a mouse for this stuff for a long time. I find a mouse is a more stable platform for drawing out complicated mask shapes.
I would think for graphic artist types, the tablet and stylus might be a boon for simulating the brush/ pencil?
I have a Warcom Graphire and find it great for use when doing a lot of PPing. For me, painting masks, dogging and burning etc are all far more intuitive using the pen, I even use the pressure sensitive feature to adjust the brush intensity. The other handy thing I find is that after a day of using a mouse in the office, to switch to the pad in the evening helps reduce the risk of RSI in the wrist and the chance of carpel tunnel syndrome. So its a from me for them.
