Well the titles pretty clear, I've just found out that at 43 or 44 if he or she is late. :help:

Both my wife and daughter thought I would go :bang: :annoyed: :annoyed: :bang: but I just sat there and laughed, the timing for her isn't great as she has just started a new job but she's 20 this year which only puts her a year younger than her mother when she became pregnant.

But on the lighter side I've put in a request for a new camera as the prices for used D700s have gone below 1k :banana::banana: as I will have a cracking subject for the rest of my 52 challenges.

 welcome to my world, mine did the same, made me flamin grandmother at 42! Same age as your daughter, 19, turned 20 a month or 2 after Luca was born. Don't worry, its not so bad apart from the mickey taking from your mates

Congratulations Grandpa! :D

Congratulations, sounds like you're already using them as an excuse for more camera gear

Thanks Yv, I'm strangely looking forward to the arrival of the little b****r. I've not got enough pictures of Katherine growing up but this one will think Grandad has a camera permanently attached to his face.

We were both living with our parents when we found out we were having Katherine but as my MIL was a smoker I was determined to have our own home and moved into our current house 7 days before she was born.

I've told my daughter not to rush as house prices are much much higher now compared to wages than for us. So she should be at home for the first year to give them chance to save for a deposit. I know my parents and my wife's parents both stayed with one of their parents for the first year before they got their first homes.

Congratulations, sounds like you're already using them as an excuse for more camera gear

There's no better excuse, cheers :)

Cngrats to you and your family

I became a granddad at 36yrs now Im a Great granddad at 55, now Im 56yrs

Thank you.

Plenty of time to become a Great Great Grandad then

Congratulations Grandpa! :D

That's not the issue ... it's going to bed with a Grandma that's the issue! :naughty:

Congrats! If you'd known how much fun grandchildren were, you'd have had them first!

GrandDads are old, I should know:lol:

That makes you an old b****r:lol:

Seriously, congratulations to you, your Wife and especially your Daughter.

I've got No. 6 on way in Feb and No. 7 in June. It's getting expensive - start saving, you won't have money for the new camera:shake:

Ken

i'm sure your moniker could be arranged to read 'Wayne Rooney'

Congrats Scott!!

Congratulations!

Seeing how close my 2 yr old is to his bamp (my dad) i think its lovely, that they will have there grandparents 20 or so years longer than most, if all goes well.

I think statistically i think its common for the children of young parents to do the same.

Somebody say "grandad"? :D
Congratulations to you all ... the 1st is brilliant ... as they multiply it gets expensive and time-consuming

Cheers Ken, I'm as old as I feel or I once read all the noises I used to make having sex I now make getting out of bed :D

Some may say I'm just a b****r anyway.

Cheers....except for the Wayne Rooney part :gag:

I only remember my grandads as older so I'm hoping to make the most of being a youngish grandad.

Thank you Gramps

Huge congratulations!!

I've got two daughters. My eldest is only 8 years old, but I'm already looking forward to being a Grandad.....sadly it means I'll have to let them near boys at some point!! :bat:

See what I mean!! As 'step-dad', HE isn't technically a granddad, he just lives with a grandmother who is 12 yrs his junior

12 years his junior?!!

There's no way Jonathan is 74 years old, Yvonne!! :naughty:

I wouldn't take the mickey - I'm more a ripping the poness type!

"Yvonne is a boy toy! Yvonne is a boy toy!!!" :p

We can't have kids - fortunately neither of us have ever wanted them, hence the visit to Dr Bollukov a few years back!

I hope not! I had to insult Marcel a lot to get the custom title I like! :naughty:

See what I mean!! As 'step-dad', HE isn't technically a granddad, ...

Half O/T, I love being a step-father. It means I can say "You're not my real daughter! You can't tell me what you want!!!"

I think you'll find that she can tell you what she wants!

Huge Congratulations - I'd love to be a young grandparent.

My eldest is about to turn 13 so I've a few years yet hopefully.

That said my wife is about to have our 4th child so I'm going to be an old dad at 40

Congratulations. A friend of mine became a step-grandmother at 36. She was a bit put out at first and then announced "Hey I'm a GILF!"

Hey congratulations!! It's not something I'll ever experience, so a bit jealous :)

Age is unimportant. She's happy, you're happy...chances are the bub will be happy.....So have fun!!!

Congratulations.....enjoy it. I became a grandad at 50 and my grandson brings me so much pleasure, fun, joy, amusement andlaughter that I would welcome at any age.

Well done. I became a granddad at 43 and its a lot more fun than being a parent that's for sure.

And you can give them back when you've had enough :D

congratulations.. I became a grandma at 40 and agree with scott, would have been nice to skip the kids and go straight to grandkids

Yup got it in one:thumbs:

The best part is reminding your daughter that when she was growing up and got to be that mouthy teenager well now she's got it all to look forward to. :D

And feed them sugar and sit back to watch the aftermath! :D

My mum used to do that with my nephew. Stuff him full of sweets and then hand him over to me.

I love her  a bit right now :)

Two packs of smarties and a can of fizzy drink should set him/her up nicely :D

that must be a typo - I had yv down as not much over 30 (either that or hobbit years are shorter than ours)

That's not the issue ... it's going to bed with a Grandma that's the issue! :naughty:

keep going like that and you'll solve that problem by sleeping on the sofa

Congratulations :)

congratulations grandad
i am one as well at the age of 45 and tbh its the best thing that has happened to us after a really rubbish couple of years
he has given us all something to focus on, we took the little fella to turkey last year at 5 months old
i really love the little fella and its a bonus that he still lives with us so i see him every day and get to see him grow up

It's been fun reading the posts at work.

Thanks for all the congratulations and I'm glad to see being a young grandad is popular.

I will keep this thread updated with my daughters progress....and mine :D

I know I replied earlier but - At 40 it won't be long till I'm a grandad and I look forward to that day but to have another baby of my own on the way throws the whole parent / grandparent / age thing into confusion for me.

It's bonkers to think about it too much

I think with a fourth on the way you are going to be very busy and that's four options for grandchildren

As it's not your first at 40 you should be an expert by now, we stopped at one and my daughters boyfriend is an only child so there will be a lack of Aunts/Uncles and cousins which will be a shame.

Gonna be very busy getting the house ready for the arrival as I expect she will live with us for the first year.

Good luck with your new arrival

Cheers

Ryan (aged 1) is the only boy in the extended family apart from my Sister's son but they live in England so it will be nice for Ryan to have a brother.

Looking good !

By the way I got my own age wrong. Seems I'm 42 this year LOL

I stopped counting years ago, it's only the boss that reminds me.

Next scan is in April and that will show grandson or granddaughter with a due date of Aug 26th :bonk: BritishSuperBikes at Cadwell Park :bang: well it's only and hour away.

Well she has had her first scan today....just to check there is only one :D

There's something about seeing the scan for the first time. We had our first scan last month and can't wait for the second one at the end of March now :)
