Grammar rant

My feelings exactly, it all started to go wrong when they sent in that guy with the long blonde hair and big cigar to look after the little darlings:exit:

OK, I know I shouldn't, but LMFAO!

Surely it should be would you

"Can you?" or "Would you?", I think, although both options should always be followed by the magic word - "Can you abracadabra?" or "Would you please?".

One of my ways of disposing of cold callers who open with "Can I ask you a question?" is to reply with "Well, you just have but I reserve the right to not answer it!" which usually confuzzles the #2 out of them.

Another equally valid option, I think Paul. (With the addition of the please!)

It's the difference between can and may and could and would.

One is to ask permisssion - may and would. The others are to be capable of IMVHO of course

i don't worry about grammar - she's grandads problem

I'm a bit puzzled to when 'ask' becomes 'aks' (pronounced 'axe'). It seems to litter gangster rap culture and appears to be on the rise in 'yoof' circles, especially when inner city lingo is the norm (i.e. 'blood', 'ends', 'ya get mi'....).
