This is my first go at 52 weeks, i'll try and keep up and shouldn't forget as i visit TP almost everyday, obviously work comes first and i'll try and keep the camera away from the place !

Taken out in the fens between Boston and Coningsby, i suppose i could call it 5 Trees !

Hi Graham.

It is really tough balancing this challenge against work, but having done 26 weeks of it last year I can tell you that it's definitely worthwhile.

Your first shot is kind of hard for me to offer C&C on - I really don't do much on the landscape side of things, and don't often look at other people's. Maybe it's something I'll start to bring into my 52 this year.

I do like the shapes of the trees silhouetted against the skyline though - and the curved path fits the theme nicely and leads you into the shot.
If I had to offer up a suggestion for improvement, then for me it could maybe do with more of a focal point somewhere to grab my attention.

Hi Sarah, it's going to be a challenge i think because i'll need to do some indoor photography at some point because basically all mine revolves round is outdoor stuff :help: Hopefully i will be able to learn how to light a subject etc, things in the kitchen might need to be used for such weekly themes and using a tripod indoors which is alien to me and having no macro lens for close ups, might see what happens with the 18-70 :gag:

Hi Graham
Sorry but it doesn't do anything for me. I think the curved path is ok leading into the trees.
I'm only saying what I see and I'm trying to give my honest opinon

Thanks i know it's not one of my better landscapes but i did shoot this today and decided to include it into my 52 :)

You're the opposite to me then. I'm far more comfortable with indoor / studio type shots where I'm in control but I'm going to try to get more outdoor shots into my 52 this year.

You'll be surprised just how close up you can get with your lens. This was taken for last year's 52, just using my 18-55 kit lens.

Hi, I think your road would've looked better if it was from a higher perpective and would show it curving more. That said it looks as flat as a billiard table there so short of walking around with a step ladder your stumped

I too shoot mostly outdoors and don't have CS3/4, I have Elements8 and every edit is an unrepeatable drama so doing this 52 I hope helps with the processing as well as the photography.

sorta nice idea that doesn't quite work for me
the path does lead you - but to nowhere

as others have said a higher shooting point migt have shown more of the curve
or even more trees to obscure the end of the curve

so sorry for being negative

It fits the theme and although it is not a stunner, for me It is a fair start to your 52. I am off to your flickr to see some of your landscapes that haven't been influenced by restrictions of the weekly themes. :)

A good start to the 52 Graham, it's got a good curve to it. I don't do much (read any really) landscape stuff, I can't get my head around it, so, like Sarah, I'm not really qualified to talk about it much. I'd say that it's a bit empty on the left though.

I'm not a great landscape fan, but you might like to try a portrait crop to give the path more impact and cut out all that space to the left.

Thanks for all replies, all crit taken on board, i must say that i shall be looking hard at finding things non landscape to photograph, that fit better with the weekly theme's in hand :)

The path leads you into the image but just as quickly leads you out, the lhs of the image is quite weak in comparison.

Looks like lee's doing the rounds of all those who are getting a tad behind:lol:
