seasons greetings....
i know its not the newest camera out on the market BUT... i just got myself a d700!! :) i moved up from a d200 and am amazed with the higer iso quality, among other things...
a quick question:
with all these autofocus points on the d700, do i have to always press the info button to see what area i have selected for autofocus? in the viewfinder, i can only move around one little square, but when i move it around while looking on the rear display, it has the main square emphasized with a group of shaded squares around it :bang::help:
thanks
david

anyone??? bueller.....bueller??

Can't help I'm afraid but try asking the question in the D700 owners thread. You'll have a more captive audience.

David ... the shaded squares are the "Dynamic Area" focus points that you have selected, either 9, 21 or 51, so it is indicating which focus area will be active.

If they all showed in the view finder it could get a bit confusing and cluttered I would imagine.

You can tell which area you have selected from the rear switch position, the info button would confirm if you have 9, 21 or 51 when the rear switch is in it's central position.

Sorry just got my D700 in Oct, maybe it might help if give more details, what display/focus mode you are in....etc.
