Im after some ND grads. I think you can buy a set with the holder etc. which is what I am after.

Does anyone know the best to get. A good value set to cover most options would be ideal. I think the most common is an ND4?.

Ive had a look around but there are so many options.

I personally use the Cokin holder and ring adapter, and then for the actual filter I use Hitech ND grad set. This includes 3 soft grad filters with strengths of 0.3 0.6 and 0.9

They set me back around £30 for the filters which is well worth the money imo, unless you would like to spend more then I can recommend the Lee filters.

Lees are great. Used to have P series Cokins and TBH the Lees are in a different world, but so is the price difference.

Their starter kits work out a little cheaper than buying everything separately. I have the DSLR starter kit, with filter cloth, holder, 0.6 grad, 0.6 pro glass ND and filter pouch, for £165.

After that, if you want to build up your ND Grads, they are about £53 each (for the top quality resin ones).

As has been mentioned below, no adaptor rings are included and have to be bought separately.

As usual, I push the Lee system, expensive but is the best (IMHO anyway). If you are after them for landscape, I suggest 0.6 and 0.9 ND grads, and they are either soft or hard. If you have a look on their website, it gives you some info, also for a tenner they have an excellent book called "inspiring professionals" and it shows examples of various filters. Their phone no is 01264 366245. You'll also need an adaptor ring for each lens.

I have the Cokin P series - I can't afford the Lee's
I have the 0.2 and 0.4 - they can be used together to create a 0.6 (effectively)

It depends how much you want to spend really.

i'd reccommend lee. the filters are a bit cheaper if you buy them in the sets they sell. for example, nd soft grad sets, etc. etc..... invaluable for landscape shots if you don't want to have to do exposure blending in photoshop.

The no 1 choice is Lee, but if you are looking at a cheaper alternative consider using HiTech filters with a Cokin P holder.

Yep I went with soft mate. From that company you linked too as well.

Excellent,

Bit miffed about the holder though,

I wann use them on anything from a Sigma 10-20 to 50mm 1.8 to a 24-70 2.8L.

Whaother gubbins do i need. Do I need the wide angle holder, if so, will that fit the other lenses or is it a case of step down rings.

I think the sig lens is 77mm,

To prevent vignetting, very advisable to get the wide angle adaptor, for use on the Sigma 10-20
