Hiy'all.

Savings are going well.
Hoping that by the end of March I should be there :woot:
So trying to suss out what to get, I've got a few idea's.
(Should HOPEFULLY have about £500 to spend).

So far on my list is:

Sigma 70-200mm F2.8
Nikon 70-300mm VR
Nikon 80-200mm F2.8 (if I can afford it....)
Tammy 70-200mm F2.8

I'll be using it for wildlife/animals, aircraft and general togging.
So a nice and fast F2.8 would be great. And also would be great if the focus speed was pretty fast.

The Sigma 70-200mm is 1st on my list, as it seems to tick all the right boxes.
Including second hand prices :)

I know I've asked this before, but it's going to be a big spend for me, and I want to make sure I get it right

Any thoughts.....?????

I had the Nikon 70-300mm first and found it a cracking lens for the price but wanted something a little sharper so then went to the 80-200mm f2.8 and also found it was super sharp for the time I used it before I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 70-200mm VR f2.8. You can add a tele converter to the 80-200 if you want that extra reach but the 70-300 will not take a tele converter.

Was that the AF-S 80-200?

Thanks snapper.
Funnily enough, I missed from my OP that I was considering using a TC.
A chap I know from work is selling a Sigma 2X TC.
Would this work with the Nikon 80-200mm?
Also what would one expect to pay for this lens?

I'm sure the 70-300mm is a fine lens, but I have heard it not that sharp, which is why I thinking of the 2.8's.

Cheers.

Sorry Andy don't know anything about the Sigma TC. Dont get me wrong the 70-300mm is a great lens for the money here is a couple taken with it wide open at 300mm. Cost on the Nikon 80-200mm depends which one you go for as there is a few different one's. I think the AF & AF-S are the one's to look for.

Thanks for that matey.

They are cracking shots, so perhaps I should reconsider the 70-300 then??!!
It would be nice to have some £££ left over.
I've seen it go for £250 second hand......

Yeh thats what I paid for it with a UV filter and polarizer off eBay. They hold there money at the moment so if you buy it give it a try and if you don't like it then move it on. Its a lot smaller that the 80-200 and much lighter to carry round too.
