getting someone to hold out an umbrella in front off them while a bucket of water gets chuck at them, the point is to get the water shooting past the person with the umbrella, im thinking ill need it in shutter speed mode, probs about 1/250 would this work ok? im hoping to get the water look nice and crisp. if anyone has any advice what can help me then that be great. ill post the results later tonight.
 
I agree about the sig, think it can only be up to 6 lines deep.
It's a cool gif but id very distracting.

I agree use flash or crank up the shutter speed but can't help but think it would be cool to use a slower shuter speed and see the water flow...

sorry about the sig, dident realise, anyways when you say use flash would it be better to set my flash gun on top of my camera, or else where in front of the subject? thanks

Why yes Gary, I completely agree. 1/250 sec and a good burst of flash will freeze the water for the shot. Glad to see you're not easily distracted, or missing the point of the question;)

My other advice would be: Use loads of buckets of water, and do it heaps of times at different settings, see what works for you!
 
anywhere that is not gonig to create harsh shadows.
 
I guess it depends what look your after mate?
I tend to use off camera flash for most things (even if I hold it just above the camera :lol:)

I guess it's hard given the shot your trying to pull off, but if your model is up for it, try it a few ways?
 
my model is my daughter, age 6 lol, shes not keen on water in her eyes, but will see how it goes, im off to try it now thank everyone for the advice.
 
My tip... dont use a bucket, get the missus to aim the hosepipe (on constants jet) at the umbrella, then you can just snap away willy nilly.

I presume you are shooting this side on, daughter holding brolly with some force to fend off the water, lotsa laughter on her face, etc?
 
I can't offer any advice, but i can't wait to see the shot(s) :thumbs:
