Looks like im going to London for an interview on Monday. :D Its a good job (In terms of what I want to do) at what seems a very good company. Im going to do plenty of swatting up until then. Going out on Saturday to have my hair cut, buy a new suit etc. The only potential downpoint to this job is hours/pay.

One thing I was wondering though; Is it rude to ask if the company helps cover some of the travel expenses to the interview (going to be close to £200 by the time im finished)? And if not, how would you approach the subject?:)

Be careful, its a dangerous place.

Apparently there are pick pockets, charlatans, large mechanical dragons that carry living people and lots and lots of chimney sweeps who say 'alright guv'nor'...

Also, the Queen lives there but only if her flag is flying and I think she has lady Diana buried in the back garden of her flat. Bit like Trevor from Brookside.

Good luck.

Hmmm, if they've not mentioned the travel expenses then I wouldn't really think you could bring it up. Possibly just have to write it off under "you have to speculate to accumulate".

Good luck!

good luck with the interview

it should be ok to ask "do you pay travel expenses?"
the worst they can say is no

Thanks guys. I think im going to leave it to see how the interview goes, and if I feel confident at the end of it, raise the issue then.

I personally wouldn't do it, but that's just me.
If I was successful, then I may raise the issue, but not until then. Mind you, I've been out of the job huntin game since "I can do that...giz a job" was a common way of getting one :D

Good luck!

Alisdair.....

If you'd narrowed it down to a choice of two equally qualified and suitable candidates and one of them had asked about travel expenses....who would you pick?

On the other side of the coin....if you went for two interviews at equally suitable companies and one company offered you travel expenses...which would you accept?

Don't blow it for a few hundred quid.

Bob

You didn't mention if you got the interview directly from the company or through an recruitment consultancy. If it is the latter they might be the ones to ask and it won't cause you any embarrassment.

Good luck with the interview!

Best of luck with the interview.
You'll blow it if you ask for expenses !!!

Good luck but re the expenses, imho it is someting that should have been discussed at the time the interview was arranged, not at the actual interview.

I would not ask for expenses, if the company is the sort that pays them they ususlly make an offer at the interview, the ones that don't are not likely to pay so with those it could lose you the job.

Don't forget to bring your camera down, you may as well make the most of the day!

Good luck with it

Dammit, you know me too well

Yep, hard enough to get travel expenses once you are employed! If you are currently without a job then the Job Centre may be able to help though, worth a try.

Good luck. Whats the field?
