Yes
Picked it up today. Could not wait really. Have some stuff coming up that I want to use the camera with and after last years three operations, I figure life is short. Live it. More to follow. It compliments the D300 really well and is testament to how good the D300 really is. There are a lot of like for like features thats for sure.

Mmmmmm, that looks like a tidy bit of kit. Hope you enjoy getting the shots with it.

I keep getting seriously tempted with one of these. It's not going to come out with a mount for canon lenses though is it. :(

Ohh congrats on the purchase :woot: Sure looks a beauty  wish I could take the plunge and get one :'(.

Enjoy your purchase, hope your well built to carry the blighter
Now onto the shot not too bad, slightly underexposed, dof etc etc ;) and you chopped off the end of your lens hood  :D

Nice one, just make sure you get your moneys worth! I'm sure you will :)

Congrats. It's a beautiful looking camera. I saw at least 5 being bought while at Focus. Is that the 70-200vr on it?

Wahey! Nice one, Mr. Garcia :)

Looking forward to seeing the results.

great philosophy to live by and even as a canon user that looks like it could be very fun...! enjoy your toy :D

 Look forward to seeing your first shots with this beauty.

"The best digital camera in the world" according to Febuarys 'What Digital Camera' mag.

I'm sure you'll do it proud mate.

DOF is dreadful in the pic.................;)

I`m quite envious, good luck with it.............

IF or when I can use my D200 properly, i`d love one of these.....:gag:

Diego may I point you in the general direction of this post that I made not three days ago:lol:

I give you a month before you cave in:lol:

Glad your happy with the new beast:thumbs:

You lasted less than a week :D (saw your other post about your 'fund'.) Well done sir. Welcome to the D3 club. I got mine a week last Friday. Life is indeed too short to worry about not owning the camera you want.

I thought it was a Canon, I didn't know Nikon made cameras. ;)

Jealous!!!

Very nice!

Is it worth the extra jump in cash over the D300 do you think? (obviously it is worth it, and if I could afford it I wouldn't even ask this question but...) Do you think owning a D300 would just make you feel like you haven't quite got all the performance locked up in that D3?

How do you like FF? What has striked you as different/better so far?

Ooh, and what about setting the ISO up real high for freezing water or fast action?

TESTIFY! :D

Congrats Diego, you must be pleased as punch right now... go take some shots!

This is a bit like the 'why have a Porsche Boxter when you can have the Porsche 911?'

When you know you can have one get one, otherwise you will end up always looking sideways at what someone has got.

Tell me about it.... although I'd never own a boxster as I think all the proper Porsche sports cars probably laugh and bully them in the factory before they get sold so we need a new comparison

I'm not so bothered about FF (although I'd enjoy it) but the high iso performance and brilliant metering really seduces me. If the D300 compared in those areas I'd settle (given that I can't really afford the real deal)

God I'm such a consumer whore!

I know the question wasn't aimed at me... but I'll add my 2p :D

I've only had a quick mess about with my D300, but I have to say the way the D3 handles noise is in another world to every other Nikon... And before I get mobbed, yes you can see noise if you pixel peep at 100% on your monitor, but what you can't see on your screen is what the noise is like when printed. The nasty noise that we used to have is gone, and when you do get it now it's really film like rather than horrid colour noise. I've printed ISO1600 images at 12x8 from my D3 and they looked more like ISO200 in film days, and the photo didn't look digital.

The D300 is very good, but just not D3 good. However under most conditions you should never be unhappy with a D300, unless you put it next to the daddy in which case it looks like a toy lol

Oh and FF... Well I like it, because I missed the FOV I got with my lenses on crop. But in a real world, it doesn't make that much difference, other than it enables that beautiful image quality

Sorry I'll shut up now...

Pete

ok, this is the camera that tore me when deciding on wht to get next!
I am a canon girl really, but this beaty of a camera really made it hard for me to decide (other than the tight budget, lol)
i hope you have tons of fun with it!!!!!

Pete - thanks for your thoughts mate. I'm sure Diego will be happy to hear his money's not been wasted too hehe :) Oh well, it looks like I'm going to want the D3 pretty much forever then!

I figure life is short. Live it.

And so say I. Just take as many images with you as you can record on whatever format!!
