Got me a Nokia N95 8GB today!!!!

On a nergative note - this phone just might do your head in getting to grips with all it can do.

That is true

It's driving me round the twist! :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

I know how you feel.
I waited MONTHS for one, as Voda wanted plenty of ££££££££
for one as I'm on a low tariff.
I begged, stole and borrowed in the end, saved hard, sold stuff and even sacrificed a nice new lens to get one
And even then I had to go 2nd hand!!

Jut think, the waiting will make it even more special when you get it!!!!

Who are you with? Have you checked you can't upgrade a few weeks early?

If you tell the guy oin the end of the phone that you're thinking of switching to another service provider, you get transferred to someone else with real clout whose job it is to see you don't leave and generally make you a happy bunny. ;)

I'm with Three. My contract isn't up until March 2009, but I can upgrade in December. Don't think I've got much of a bargaining chip at the moment.

I've done that before.
Although it didn't work this time!!
But I knew very well I was pushing my luck, as I done the same thing last year, and got a free decent phone 6 months early!!
So I didn't take it too far in case they really did end my contract :D

What I done last year was tell them my phone was knackered, and I'm thinking of leaving.
I don't have insurance (as it is a blatant rip off!!) so I went down that road.
What seriously helped me out was that the lady I spoke to initially was quite rude, and generally
useless, and actually encouraged me to 'go elsewhere'.
So when I put in a complaint about her, they insisted I had a new sparkly upgrade, for free,
and another 12 month contract instead of 18!!!

I tried that once before with Vodafone. I was at the end of my contract and wanted to upgrade (This was at the time when upgrades weren't free, but averaged around £10 - £20) and I was told it would cost me £180 to upgrade. I explained that I could just go elsewhere and get a FREE phone but it cut no ice and when I asked them to cancel my account they very kindly did so. I then went to another provider and got a free handset and a better tariff.

About 2 weeks later I got a call from Vodafone to ask why I had cancelled my account and what could they have done to retain me as a customer. When I explained what had happened the guy was mortified!

Blimey.
Their loss mate!!

I gotta be a little bit careful, because of my low tariff and a pretty awesome number. So I got quite allot to lose!!

Why/what phone were they trying to charge you £180 for

Nokia N95-1 was a public beta test, worst experience I've had re: battery life - the N95 8GB was fantastic however, congratulations :)

I wanted a bit more battery life so went for the E71 :)

Does anyone use one of those FM transmitters for the car?

I just got one, and I'm quite impressed.
Music isn't CD quality, but pretty near.

I got THIS one cheap on fleabay.

Jeez mate, it must have been a damn good phone!!!

Can't remember, but I got it for free when I signed up to another provider.

I have one of those. As you say, not CD quality but very useful for long journeys when it isn't always possible to change CDs.

Deffo useful for long journeys.
That's my intention.

So what in-car holders are you guys using?
I use a cheapo £5 from the local market jobby!
It actually is pretty good, but doesn't rotate, so I'm looking for a new one.....
