Well our resident photography supplier (Ian aka KERSO) has just kindly delivered my a battery grip for my 30d.

My camera is now officially massive (coming from a 350d)
I can't believe how big its feels  :nono:(Oi! no comments!)

How does this relate size wise, to those of you who have 1d's etc...?

Not through Ebay, all in £105 :D

I don't have a 1D but I have a friend who does and he lets me hold it sometimes :D A 30D + grip feels similar, but not quite the same if you know what I mean ;)

I have to say I love the grip on my 30D, I wouldn't be without it :)

Battery grips are definitely one of those things that you just get used to really fast & then find that your camera feels plain weird if they're taken away

My 5D & grip is almost identical in size to my 1D so I imagine that the 30D will be about the same

I had mine for months and didnt use it.....i forced myself to use it and now wouldnt be without it.

THE BATTERY GRIP!!! ;) :naughty: :D

I got a grip for my 30D at weekend, hated it the first day it's just too big, now I love it.

My old 20D + Grip is smaller and lighter then the 5D + grip by a noticable amount. The 5D + Grip is about the same size as the 1D MK2. But the 5D + grip is noticably lighter then the 1D MK2 (at least to me), but you can imediately feel that the 1D2 is more solid.

nice one mate, you will have to bring it with you next time you visit, and dont think i've forgotten about the photinia, i haven't..

Cheers Steve, will bring it along, give me a nod ;)

So far ALL my Dslr's have been fitted with battery grips.

I wasn't going to bother with one on the 5d, but it felt too weird without it, the extra balance it brings to the camera when a large lens is fitted is worth it on it's own.

I used a grip on a 5D, it's really big with it (maybe it's not, but I use a 400D plus grip normally so it felt like it).

Heavy too, my arm started to ache after like an hour.

can someone tell me what the advantages are having a grip? I have a 400D and was wondering if it is worth getting one?

I have grips on mine I also use the Canon E1 strap which is great when you get used to it, easily have a body with grip and any lens I have on it and carry it all day, sometimes 6-8 hours continuous ;)
