Yes
Just been out and taken a few photos of my daughter in a field full of Poppies, a Rapeseed field and finally in a road underpass; at the last point some oldish bloke walks by with his dog and gives me a look of total disgust

Now I know some photographers may be a bit pervy, but she was fully dressed and she's 21 !!!

Oh - and I was fully dressed too :lol::lol:

Silly old fart :D

I'd have looked back disapprovingly at him.... after all, he'd clearly been dogging...

(ba-boom-tish I'm here all week)

Take a snap of the grump old sod, I bet he'd appreciate it ;)

I was told to stop photographing my grandson in a empty park by a plastic copper once I was asked could I prove he was my grandson so I said do you honestly think that a 1 yr old could have walked down the park on his own he could not understand why I blew my top at him some people got no common sense

Mark

Amazed you know what he was thinking just from a look.... Might have been wind?

Nothing to do with your photography, people are just weird.

Believe it or not, some are just always grumpy!

Non-photographers often just assume your up to no good.....

Probably couldn't understand why on earth you'd be taking photo's at that location.

Some good replies there guys - BUT...

'dogging' ??? That was BAD !!! But i like it

And he needed a fart Kip ??? Well, with an old screwed up face like he had I think it was probably more solid than a fart he needed :D

But yes - taking photos in a graffiti scrawled underpass must seem odd to 'normal' people :D

Dave

Let people think what they want lol, fact of the matter is you're not doing anything wrong :).

he was probably on his way to the newsagents to pick up this months copy of Razzle.

Dave unless you post a photo of yourself how can we decide if you are a perve or not?;)

its all to do with the size of your kit.

Point and shoot - ignored

Large Format film - people actually come up and have a friendly chat which is annoying when youre trying to sort it all out

SLR - pervert suicide bombing P****

I know what Dave looks like and I would look at him with total disgust too! :p

Yep that shot proves it definitely perv:)

Here you go, this should help you make your mind up.

DAMN !!! It must be true then - and by odd coincidence I was wearing that same t-shirt today too - and doing the same trick as well - and I even told my daughter that when I do this people keep taking my photo !!! :D

Maybe the old man's face is always that way? Maybe he' just a grumpy old man?

If he didn't look in your direction at all, you'd say he was a bit suspicious!

Photographers can be overly paranoid too.

It would seems the days of innocently taking photos have long gone. There was time when you could freely take photos with ease, people would even say take my photo, get one of me etc. But now people duck and dive and hide their faces.

Just maybe the days of innocence has long gone :|

He walked past with a stern look, glanced at me once in what I took to be a look of disgust and ignored me when I said 'Hi' :(

Barnsley folk pretty much always say 'Hi' to each other and I'd have expected some funny comment too, the lack of which all added to the air of disgust :D

Dave

Here's a couple of the shots - same place in the underpass, all I did was turn her around and shoot from a different angle, quite a different look to the wall isn't it :)

Nay lad, wer not all flat cap wearin' bitter drinkin' miserable old sods over this side o t'Pennines yer know!

But some of us are, and proud of it.

Y can always tell a Yorkshireman, but y can't tell him much.

Lovely photos!

Do you have a moustache? If so it's clearly not the old man's fault. Otherwise he's just another grumpy old man.

It was either jealousy of the tall, handsome, athletic photographer shooting a model
Or
You'd left your lens cap on again?

Must be the former then Bruce - all my lens caps are in a neat pile in the office here. I take them off when I first open the box and only put them back on again if I sell the lens :)

So... :razz::razz::razz:

:D

I take no notice of people expressing fear and loathing. The real "perverse" thinking is in their own tiny minds clouded by their cesspool thinking.

I have once faced a policeman who asked me "what I thought I was up to" when I was taking a picture in Bristol of a pyramid of giant xmas tree balls. A science lesson then followed on the dynamics of light entering the lens which was the concentrated onto a film of light sensitive chemicals bonded to a strip of plastic for a short period of time etc etc. I ended by suggesting that, if he was unsure of the legality of what I was doing, that he contact his superiors at his station. Seemingly he had been informed by "someone" that I was acting suspiciously! We parted on reasonable terms after he spoke into his talking brooch. A muttering ensued and off he went with a Merry Xmas from me.

I never cease to be amazed at the fear that people live with. I fully understand about protecting your and others' children from the possible attention from those who would harm them. (The classic being the case of Ian Brady once again spotlighted in the current press) but the actual incidence of such events is low but that is not suggesting we ever drop our guard. As an ex School Governor for many many years (incuding stints as Chair of Governors). I was on a number of occassions the Governor tasked with Child Protection issues which involved intepreting and implementation of guidance issued from the Local Authority on the matter. The training and data shows that most incidents of violence and molestation occurred within the family and friends grouping.

Within my own working life I have sadly been aware of two tragiedies involving members of staff whereby their children had been targetted by adults. In both cases it was by trusted family members.

The idea that photoraphers are to be "suspect" and "feared" is a modern day curse when taking pictures is a huge every day event with billions of pictures being taken in the course of days and weeks through camera phones and compact cameras feeding Social Media resources to share globally in many cases.

I basically will not allow my enjoyment of my hobby be ruined by either the ignorant or the self
appointed. I will, however, ensure that I continue to be alert to fears of others and to be a member of the wider community that exercises a general alertness to protect our children from all forms of danger.

I wish there was an easier way to lift the veil of suspicion from our hobby but without the concerted efforts of those who caused it (the media) we are always going to face nonsense. (I have purposely ignored the HiVis jacketed security morons from shoping centres/office buildings etc as that is a completely different agenda).

Ignore them Dave, I had a similar thing happen to me about 9 years ago, went to the local park with my 15yr old niece who I took on after my brother died, she wanted some nice pics for her bebo or something.

Next thing I know I've got someone claiming to be an off duty cop trying to grab my camera and calling me a Paedophile.
Got threatened with arrest, told me he knew where I lived and they where going to raid my home etc etc.
I just stood my ground and told him to do one, his screams of "delete them" (referring to my images) as I walked off where responded to in good old fashioned anglo saxon and the universally recognised 1 fingered salute.

Never got raided, never heard anything more at all.

Hmmmm, now with the T-shirt being stretched to capacity, and what appears to be a large lens protruding from underneath...... you still have a good set of moobs, maybe it's time strap them in a bit ;)

This may have been the cause of disgust? :coat:

Phil.
