OK guys, first post here.

This has probably been done to death but heyho.

Ive got a warehouse that we use for business so I have access to a corner etc. The walls are breeze blocks white/cream.

All I have at the moment is :

Canon 1000D
Tripod

The lighting in the warehouse is pretty good, but they are 4 x strip lights :

I want to take some pictures of myself as part of my gym bulk up diary. What do I need to get some good ish pictures without spending 100's.

I took this today (basically it was just messing with settings, on a timer)

As you can see, I have no idea what I'm doing.

Where do I start? Maybe a huge white card sheet as a backdrop etc.

Thanks

Well flourescent is going to give you a green hue so set the camera for this. You could change some of the tubes to Daylight tubes if you want.
Have you got an off camera flash?

No I haven't got anything yet, that why I'd thought I come here. I'm a 100% total noob so need info on everything.

I do have a light with a tungsten bulb in that we use for product photographs :

for a start stand further away from the wall and if you do use flash try turning the flash exposure compensation down a stop or 2, that way you will reduce some of the shadow that you have in your pic

for a bit more money for better results if you can get yourself a cheap flash or 2 then you can try this

try standing further from the wall and set your aperture to the lowest your lens will allow this will help blur the background , just keep an eye on your focus.
