Yes
I've just got 430EX , it's already transformed my perception of flash which was tainted by the crappy onboard efforts. It just looks so natural and is so easy to use and get good pics :)

To be fair i've just had the camera in manual mode and abusing ETTL (isn't it natty how you set the speed, aperture and the flash exposes it for you, clever little thing :D), but it's good fun playing with bounce flash, FEC and the like. I'll move onto fill flash, setting the flash power manually and other stuff as i learn.

All in all a worthwhile purchase :D

Congrats Col_M ... sounds like you're enjoying your new toy ... great isn't it ... :D

Sounds gr8 Col_M - What sort of things have you been snapping & where are the pics (nuffin in your Gallery )
Paul ;)

Congratulations - makes a big difference having a flash unit, got mine just before christmas and still trying to get the hang of it

Can you strobe with the 430 like the 580? It's cool to play around with the strobing, but i'm yet to actually 'need' it :D

Nice innit?
I've had one for a while

I find that the high speed mode H(arrow) V.Useful when you are using Av so that it works out the fill in correctly.

Also have you noticed that if you are focussing and push the DOF preview button (under the lens release button) the thing flashes like mad for a few seconds. I've NO idea why it does this.

To give you a chance to gauge the depth of field - also gets attention at family occasions

I don't have anything im my gallery (you mean there's a TP gallery?) because i haven't had time to upload what i've been snapping, when i've got a bit of time tomorrow i'll upload some :) I haven't taken pics of anything spectacular tbh, just items around the house  I've got the day off tomorrow so when i'll see what i can come up with :)

That'll be the modelling flash ;) allows you to kind of preview the shadows the flash will leave/create :) well at least that what i remember anyway

You have your own Gallery here (or were you yanking my chain?) though most people link to their webspace or Flickr ...
I just wondered what sort of stuff you had been shooting as it might inspire me to use my camera more when it is hosing down outside & I can't get out to play
Paul

No Paul i wasn't yanking your chain, i didn't know there was one. This place gets better all the time ;)
I'll have to pull my finger out then, i usually just use my photobucket account.
To be honest i've just been taking pics or random stuff around the house, i wouldn't really call it inspirational, but i'll try to share the more interesting ones :)
