Yes
Going to Thailand this month and need a tripod. Going to take a gorillapod so needs to be light and small. I want to wrap it around stuff to take nice pics at night of the city etc...

Weight to hold would be max a Canon 60D and a Tamron 17-50

Budget is around £30. Anyone link me up, any recommendations?

Thanks :)

I've found anything other than the Focus pointless with a DSLR and even then the Focus has it's limitations.

IMO they are best suited to compacts. Either that or flash mounting, which is what mine is used for (and very good it is too).

Really? :(

I have nowhere near that stocks them. I won't be at any markets that sell technology on my travels at the beginning only towards the end.

So it's a 100% no?

Another here for don't bother. I sent mine back to the UK a few months back as I was not using it. A tripod is far more useful but I cannot justify the extra bulk. Gorrillapods have their place, but as a replacement for a tripod they do not work. As Jacob said, no shortage in markets when your there. It will cost less and you can dump it after.

I agree, as a replacement for a tripod the gorilla pod is rubbish.

Looking at this, over my budget but hey I need one for travelling.

Anyone have any views on them?
i have bought exact this one.

although it is unsuitable replacement for expensive tripods. i find it to be more than adequate for general purpose shots. i currently own a cheap tripod and a grillapod, i find myself using the gorillapod a lot more than tripods, it's more flexible, more compact and less weight.

ballhead is a must! it is impossible to compose or even make it level without a ballhead. the one you linked is good enough, does change slightly when tightening, which can be a problem at 200mm.
