Aldi are selling a gorilla pod for £8.99. Different name though but still the same thing. Dunno what they're like cause I haven't opened the one hubby got me as a stocking filler

mmm piccy only shows it with a compact on it, does it say the weight limit on the box? any idea which size GPod it is comparable to?

tis okay I sent the missus the scenic route on the school run... she is bringing me one back so I havent yet seen it but what I know so far..

2kg weight support
dual 1/4 + 3/8 threads for cameras or heads
sounds like its about 10-12 inch

so it sounds more comparable to the Slr Zoom??:shrug:

Picked up the last one up here today. Thanks for the tip-off.
Seems ok wanted one for low down flash work, my mini tripods keep
falling over whenever I look away !

I've found the Gorillapod makes an excellent stand for off-camera flash. I may get a couple at that price.

Edit: Well, I might have done if I could find them on their website. Can't believe they haven't got a search tool!

How did I find it? I went down for a packet of bacon cause theirs tastes nicer than Morrisons

I have used mine a coulpe of times since getting it, and I tested it wrapped around a standard lamp so was on its side a la portrait, with the s100fs attached and all was good..

probably a bit late now , i bought one and for the money it seems to be excellent , has a quick release plate as well
