Has anybody had used a 5D with a 70-200 with a 3k gorilla pod, does it hold it steady or will i need to use the 5k version

In theory they weight 2300g so it should work with 700 g to spare but sometimes reality a d theory don't match

I have a Gorillapod 5k (was called the Gorillapod Focus at the time). I never use it for supporting an SLR camera; it is not up to the job. If the legs are spread just a bit too much, or the camera tilted a bit too far (not a lot) it will sag/creep. I use Nikon, but it isn't stable with the comparable D850 and 70-200.

If you want to use it flat on the ground, or wrapped around something, and weight centered, then maybe.

I totally agree with Steven; I’ve had a couple of these, still got one now in fact, but I don’t use it for anything heavier than my phone, as it’s really not very strong or stable. I won’t be buying another one.

I use a GorillaPod under a compact, not an SLR. Bought the heaviest duty one available at the time (might even be called the SLR!) but don't trust it enough for longer exposures.

Have a look at the platypod range, i found it very stable, takes a normal ball head and almost no room in the bag
