Hi folks,

I recently bought a timelapse rotator I think the best way to describe it would be, anyway after my first trip out with it and my gopro attached I produced a near 30sec timelapse-esque video.

Would like to hear any views or tips for future trips out, or examples of other peoples work.

Thanks,

Also I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so please excuse me if not.

TurnsPro it is, a kickstarter project down in Devon. You can select direction, angle, duration, I'm well impressed with it.

*I'm nothing to do with TurnsPro either if that sounds a bit pluggy.

Thats awesome. I built one out of an egg timer... results were less impressive.

Haha I'd looked at one of those and some eBay ones but it was the being stuck at a constant speed/time that put me off.
I need to find something now to get all of it level although I wasn't far off last time it did take some achieving.

I bought an egg timer type of time lapse rotator for my GoPro when I went to Iceland at the beginning of the year. Had a lot of fun with it, but only lasted a week before the internals decided to give up.

That eventually led on to buying a Syrp Genie and slider, and while I'm still learning, has provided some amazing time lapse footage while being so easy to set up.

This looks similar to their new Genie Mini, which rotates but connects to your phone by Bluetooth to set it up.

Not sure if you'd be able to put much heavier than a GoPro or a mirrorless camera on it, but nice solution and hopefully may lead on to investing in new equipment.

I use an Ikea egg timer at the moment - it's ok but can't disable the bell at the end. Need to look at a proper time lapse mount sometime.

Hadn't heard of the Syrp Genie and wow what a piece of kit that appears to be. A fair price too mind but the linear option too is a great idea.

Have you a YouTube channel or anywhere you put your videos to have a look at?

I use a Flow-Mow. Just a 360 timer but it takes 2 hours to do one revolution. I like the look of the Turnspro unit though.

I looked at the flow-mow but it's got the same problem as egg timers - it only goes one way - I want one that goes both ways;)

I think I could get on with the one way thing, a bit annoying but the set speed is the biggest setback for me.
I'm not sure of the back and forth motion that the turnspro does. When it's gone one direction I can't see a situation to then go back the opposite way in the same recording but I guess time will tell.
Hoping to be out this weekend again with it, depending on work.

I almost ordered a Turnspro yesterday, trouble is, my internet connection is a rural slow one and I couldn't load Paypal so gave up.
Had second thoughts about completing the purchase today ( even got an email from Kickstarter asking if I had a problem ordering)
Rich, I'd be interested in your views about it after you have used it more. At the moment, the Flow Mow and just mounting the GoPro straight on a tripod work for me.

Yeah no probs, get in touch anytime and I'll give you some honest feedback on it. Hoping to get out at least twice a month and will upload any vids on here.

Which version gopro are you using?
Mines the 3+black and seems pretty good for timelapses (when I can find a decent subject). Using a wasabi power extended battery too which seems to last about twice as long as a standard battery.

Using a 4 Black and just speeding video up at the moment, thought it would give a smoother end product. Plug into a anker battery bank if need any extra power for it. Been thinking of possible subjects for it, a night scene next probably and then a trip to the coast when time allows.

My second night time lapse was with a Hero 4 Silver with a battery backpac mounted on a tripod in the back garden, I think it stayed powered up for 4 or 5 hours..
Since sold the Silver and bought a Black. I use a Traser Lithium ion 10ah battery plugged into the GoPro through a Skeleton case. I took a night lose video a couple of night ago, from about 8pm to 6am. Lots of clouds but the stars shone through. Cant upload it at the moment because our internet is so slow, I'll do it later and put up a link.

Heres the Hero 4 Silver night lapse. Best viewed at as high a resolution as you can.

Nice, find it relaxing watching the stars. Reminds me I did a few hours night sky to do a star trail, I might run them through a timelapse tomorrow and see how it looks. Was no foreground interest though I don't think, just shot straight up.
