No
Really struggling with my photography at the moment. Rarely take the camera out, no funds to invest in lenses etc so decided to sell it.

I've been toying with the idea of a Gopro hero 5 with the proceeds but having just renewed my Adobe photography package for another year wonder if it would be a pointless choice and if a compact would be a better alternative?

I've been through Canon 40d & 70d, Fuji X100t & Nikon D5300 & 35mm. I enjoy walking & family stuff, the odd landscape.

GoPros are great but would not get one for shooting. Going back to the x100t would be perfect imo.

My son has a hero 5 black and took at to Switzerland last summer, getting some remarkably good shots. And it has a kind of fisheye too which is handy for landscape. He got it primarily for video but that's not to say it's a one trick pony.

That said, a compact would produce better images but it depends what you do with them

Thanks for the advice. Don't think Gopro is the way to go for me as a main camera option. Back to the drawing board!

Get yourself a film camera. Cheap as chips and great fun :D

I did that but cost of developing film is a bit prohibitive now & don't have time or space to develop it myself!

Filmdev are still pretty reasonable. £5 or £6 quid I think for a medium scan. Depends how much you shoot I guess but I can live live that given I have a £40 body and a £30 quid lens :D

Gorpos are great for action videos and can take good quality stills but they don't replace a stills camera. I have a hero 4 Silver. I fine video editing a PIA. Also my videos seem really boring! You need to capture lots of short clips to make things interesting.
The trouble with the stills is the wide angle of the lens. i took mine kayaking and a few seals popped up about 15ft away, On the Gopro you could hardly see them as the view was so wide, got the entire of Langstone harbour though!

I just wonder why you'd be thinking of spending money on a GoPro or anything related to photography if you rarely take the camera out, or are feeling that the motivation isn't there? Unless I've mistaken your original post those decisions appear quite baffling, looking at the kit you've gone through more gadgets won't make a difference to how you feel about photography will they? GoPros are great for video, mainly action footage, but I wouldn't recommend for stills photography at all
