GoPro Hero3 and 4K video

Have you had a trial of it yet Neil? I have a Stealth HD170 and have never been that impressed with it, so am on the lookout for its replacement.

Ah, sorry. Didn't realise it wasn't properly available yet. The spec looks most impressive though, I might take the plunge and go (no pun intended) for one of those. I ended up going for the Stealth over the Hero2 due to the size.

Good point, maybe get a pair of the 2's one forward mounted and the other rear mounted, with the stealth as helmet-cam! Would have no idea about editing the different perspectives into one movie but there you go.

oh, I should point out these are for my motorbike otherwise helmet-cam might read a bit oddly. :D

I was looking at that this morning. Shame it is only 15 fps or so in 4k. Rather cheaper than a RED though...

Quote ...waterproof to 197' (60m), capable of capturing ultra-wide 1440p 48fps, 1080p 60 fps and 720p 120 fps video and 12MP photos at a rate of 30 photos per second

Pretty decent specs for the price though

It is. I really like gopro.

The slow mo is a much needed feature.

240fps too! Albeit at wvga...I would hope the quality still to be high.

I would hope they have improved the audio significantly. Every Gopro clip I see sounds like it was recorded with tin cans & string!

wowzers, the new go pro (black edition) does 4K video..

....at 12fps.. which is not very useful. Still.. it's a step in the right direction.

Set to full HD and full screen, this video is awesome!

Certainly is. Not many of us are going to be in such beautiful locations very often though, we can only dream. If I bought one it'd be for a bit of strapped to the mountain bike for a bit of rough riding, or strap to the kids heads and send them off out after a bottle of coke to see what they come up with :D [not really!]

How many here will really 'need' this? It is designed for extreme sports, under water activities etc ... I do wonder how many buy them just to have another toy to play with. I like toys though, so might be tempted at some point. Christmas is a' comin'

I'm really happy to see 720/120, up until recently the only camera to do that was the red epic, now there are at least 3 to my knowledge that can shoot at such a high frame rate.

The lumix LX7 quality looks pretty good and I'm awaiting delivery on that.

Are there any rivals to the gopro3 that match it on quality or price? You only tend to really hear about the gopro

There is also the Contour HD but it can't compete with this latest GoPro 3. I think that GoPro is pretty much dominating the sport cam market at the moment and rightly so with the feature to cost ratio IMO! The only thing I dont like about them is the mounts, some of them can be a bit cumbersome and weak.

Thanks, I wonder if the gopro3 will have continuous recording on a loop so it could double as a dash cam, I know the 2 didn't but it would just help allowing me to justify one.
