More pressure to take better photos :gag:

I used it a few months ago and really couldnt get on with it, but then again they are saying its mainly photographers who have gotten on well with it, i just hate any kind of social networking online.

I heard it had only come out this summer, so i presume you were an early member, sites like facebook have years behind them so I don't think its dead yet, and from what i've seen it combines the best features of all the social networking/photo sharing sites

It's so confusing. I don't even know how to add people or find anyone. And the whole circles thing baffled me!

Sticking to Twitter I think!

theres a big ol' thread int he computer section..

last time i asked nobody could tell me what its actually useful for though.

Extremely good for networking, within 12 hrs I have the contacts of over 300 photographers from round the world. And over 130 photographers who have added me. Surely thats better than a kick in the teeth for getting your images out there?

So you now have 300 photographers in your circle - what has this achieved exactly?

Imho networking is a means to an end, there no point being the most "networked" photographer in the uk if nothing ever comes of it.

I quite agree, having ventured into Myspace and Twitter some while ago neither has brought any tangible benefit with regard to selling my paintings, the seem to be just another drain on time resources, and I daresay Google+ would be exactly the same. I'd rather spend the time painting or photography.

Thanks for that! Is was actually very useful. A lot of my questions answered. I have added some people from the various threads on here into Circles. Still need more people to add me in Circles though :)

As for what it's useful for. Well I suppose it depends on what you put into it. At the end of the day though, a lot of these sites are just about posting videos of cats and photos of holidays. Nothing wrong with that. I like cats.

It then allows me to broadcast my work to a greater number of people across a greater area of the world than I would be able to normally. Social networking is just like networking in person, you are showing people what you do and if everybody had a pessimistic view, nobody would show anybody their work, post on flickr, post on here etc. Many people have actually got a lot of business from sites such as facebook etc. However at the end of the day it's down to personal preference but I for one will be giving it a go!

yeah but you've broadcast your work to your peers - Great if thats what you wanted , but what actual benefit is there - Ideally I want to broadcast my work to potential clients, and i want them to be local so they can actually use my services.

I suppose it depends what you are offering/style of photography you participate in. For example if you shoot proms around sheffield, broadcasting to people in melbourne will be no good. However if you are shooting landscapes and selling prints, who cares where they come from as long as they are paying!

Hi, beware of having photography in your name. Google doesn't take too kindly to this, I had my account suspended recently for breaching their naming policy. I removed the photography bit, and was swiftly reinstated. I'm at gplus.to/bdgphoto.

i tried this out a few weeks back my friend invited me but im really not a fan of it at all facebook is for me

I joined it a week or so ago but haven't done anything other than follow a few photographers.
