Google web browser (chrome)

No. It's a browser - like firefox is.

I've installed it - and uninstalled it. Me no like.

It's quick but no better than Safari. No adblocker. The threat of adverts piped into your browser by google. And it displays a list of passwords used. There's secure, boyo.
 
I think ill stay with firefox for now then..........

Feels a bit clunky, I reckon it will smooth itself out, but will need some tricks up it's sleeve if it wants to compete with IE or Firefox.
 
Its essentially Safari just a different front end.

I'm not sure I understand this second one. Are they referring to anything you view in the browser?

Haha :p No, its based on Webkit which is the open source engine Safari uses. I really don't like the look of it though. Its so cheap looking. Lacks the polish of Safari or even FF now its finally got polish.
 
I've got it as my secondary browser... I'll give it a whirl and see what I think after a week or so!
 
Just like 2Blue, I would be wary.

With Google's stance on collecting everything on the internet and globally dominating the market, I wouldn't trust it as a browser to be honest.
That coupled with the fact that I really can't see them allowing any adblocking technology ;) (Like AdBlockPlus), AND the fact it sucks purely because there's no Mac version, means its a definite no no for me.
 
I dont like it. Looks tacky. I mean why put the tabs at the top :gag: Maybe when it smooths out a little I might use it, but I am deffinatly sticking with FF for the time being.

I see no point in Google bringing out a browser though. They should stick to what there best at IMHO.

Hmm. I kind of like it, not working on a few sites but the speed it displays pages is mighty impressive.
 
It uses seperate processes for each tab, which takes up more memory to begin with, but speeds browsing a lot!

They are obviously the 'biggest' and most probably best search engine on the web now, but to get there they have had to employ some big brainy people...

I for one would like to see how these big brainy people have interpreted a Web Browser - they did good on GMail (not that I have one!)...
 
Look how fast it is though! Try a javascript benchmark test - it whips firefox.
 
I've been using this since yesterday and I can safely say its very good so far. No pop ups whatsoever and pages seem to load quicker.

Maybe people who are doubting it should have a little patience and use it for a little longer before casting it aside ;)
 
Put it on the laptop and ran it side by side with FF for a few hours while doing some general browsing, but to be honest, I dont like the layout. yes it loads marginally quicker, but overall a bit archaic looking and seeing as google have already put money into FF development [they say], I think I will be sticking with that for now.
 
It's very fast, but I still think it's going to go the same way as Lively did... another non-search related product that Google is going to find hard to push.
 
OHG......just been reading on some of the links posted about CHROME and at the bottom of this link it say's

"Chrome's "Omnibar" can also access all keystrokes a user types, and Google will store some of this information along with IP addresses."

This is just spyware/keylogging.......

I have found firefox to do all I want and more quite reliably with all the add in's available.

PS if you want cool.. install the cooliris piclens add on for firefox.. that's progress!
 
Installed, didn't like uninstalled. Remember though this is a public beta, so it may get better. Back to Firefox
 
Just been trying it and was very impressed until I right-clicked an image.

There is no IExif in the shell and it doesn't look like Opanda support this browser yet.

aye tbh for a beta it's better than say firefox was at beta and it's taken safari long enough to become acceptable
 
So, why do we need another browser ?
I use firefox, and have yet to ever find me needing another - do you use more than one at a time, and if so, why ?
 
It's very quick off the mark, very minimalist too! nice looking thing but I think I'll wait till the Beta is run through :)
 
Surprising how much "Chrome " is left on the PC when the browser is uninstalled.

Eventually had to do a Restore jobbie!
 
i presume we need different browsers for the benefits they bring otherwise we'd all be using ie which up until recently has been pretty horrific.

variety is rarely a bad thing i reckon or should we all be driving the same car etc? :S
 
I hear that, but what I meant was more along the lines of would you use 2 browsers at the same time on a pc, and if so, then why ?
 
I tend to install all of them just to check my website runs ok, which it does :thumbs:

Surprising how many sites do fall over in new browsers :(
 
anyone that uses Chrome read EULA????you better do! google owns everything you post using chrome..pictures...everything...
Their PA said that is just a mistake and they gona change it but for time being....
no Chrome for me :)
