Google slashes price of Nik Collection

if you already have a Nik product, look out for your email - they're giving it ALL away for free! :)

WBEEM also takes 15% off...think you can only use one code tho folks

Are these plugins really worth it though

YES they are. If you are unsure just use the option for the free trial of all the software. Even if they don't update them or even bring out a newer version these IMO are well worth the £85.00 (after conversion from USD and the 15% code).
NIK!!! NOT GOOGLE made these and did an excellent job.

If SilverEfex is anything to go by then yes, £85 is a bargain

I've not had my email yet and I've checked my junk filters :(

Is it a download link they send you?

I've used the complete collection for a few years now and would be lost without it... Viveza 2 is the stand out product for me, just fantastic! A real bargain.

I use Nik plugins for all my processing bar anything that requires layer work.

They're the cream of the crop.

OnOne are sweating... just received their 'up to 40% off' offer!

Does the new software include use in PS? I only had the aperture/LR version originally

Any other changes?

Cheers

Does the new software include use in PS?

Yes it does... the modules can be accessed directly from PS as a plug-in (Filters>Nik). From LR they are launched as an external editor using 'Edit In' then saved as a TIFF.

Any other changes?

I can't see any... and it's been a while since there have been any major updates to many of the modules. I wonder if this keen pricing is a prelude to Viveza 3, Color Efex Pro 5 etc. Build up the customer base now then make even more sales with new upgrades later... hope so!

More likely to be the end of the road, no? Not really Google's business, is it?

(BTW, I didn't get/use a license number. Is it built into the EXE, or did they drop copy protection?)

Doesn't seem so.....they're offering free future upgrades

When I spoke to tech support they laughed when I asked if Google was going to kill them. They are here for us photographers, be rest assured.

Does anyone know if this collection can be installed on more than one machine? Have two computers at home.

Thanks,
Al

Pretty sure their license allows two installs although I didn't actually get a license key when I purchased, just download links to the Mac and PC software so it appears there is no protection at all unless it's got some kind of phone home agent built-in.

I've put it on 2 laptops and it seems to be working OK

Have any existing users had one of these free upgrade emails yet? I have had the complete collection for a few years (with more recent purchases of Viveza 2, Color Efex Pro 4 etc) but never bothered with HDR Efex Pro... It sounded like I was going to be offered HDR Efex Pro 2 for free but haven't heard yet...

Keith, I had CEP3 and did not receive an email. I contacted Customer Support via the email link accessed via the Contact Us link here:

http://support.google.com/nikcollection/#topic=3039620

After a bit of confusion on their side I got my download link. They said I had not registered CEP3 (although I thought I had), so I had to send my license number. From what I have read it may be easier using the phone contact - you put your number in and they contact you.

Brilliant, I'll give it a go... thanks!

All sorted already! They replied within a few minutes, I sent the proof of purchases/activation codes, they sent the link pretty much immediately... all installed and working fine!
