Ages ago I used Picasa to organize my photos etc. Loved the programme but HATED the fact that it insisted upon copying all my photos to its own locations instead of just letting me look at my photos were they are...it also cataloged any image on the computer including spash screens from progammes etc

I don't want copies of photos all over the computer or moved to this folder or that I just want to look at my photos where they are

Is the recent Picasa still like that, don't want to download it if it is ??

Moved to editing for you to see if you get more replies :)

Long time since I used Picasa but as I remember it you could select what folders would be included in the library/search and I certainly don't remember it copying anything.

Just checked on my Wife's laptop.
As Robert said you can select what folders Picasa scans and you can select what folders it watches.
AFAIK Picasa does not copy your photos anywhere it just creates thumbnails and you can decide how these are displayed.
View / Folder View / Tree View displays them as Explorer would and makes sense to me.
Flat Folder View shows them as if they were all in 1 folder and you can view them by Name, Date etc. at a first look the order seems very wierd but it does make some sort of sense (to someone :D)

OK thank you and thanks Robert for moving this thread......

It was a LONG time ago when I used Picasa but at the time it made copies of all my photos and put them into its own folders or something. I remember having photos all over the place when it finished and I uninstalled it
