Is there a setting to get this working? Mine does not show anything.

That's the old google latitude isn't it?
 
latitude was great as you could share with other people and see where people were, meet up with them etc. and also know when someone got home late night and didn't need to worry. Didn't work on iOS very well though as it couldn't run in the background.

It then got moved into the black hole of Google+
 
i read an article recently about google where it was said that the head of google+ (edit: Vic Gundotra) is one of the most influential / dominant in google, hence google+ integration being forced on other google products that don't want the integration (such as youtube)
