No
This dropped into my mail box this morning, it seems genuine enough.
BUT they want me to verify my age with a CC or driving licence.
Not a snowballs chance in hell.

I have a few Gmail accounts, a couple for important stuff
and a couple for on line sales etc if I have to supply an email addy
( both of these are expendable)

I'm not totally sure what a more age appropriate experience actually means,
But if they are going to somehow restrict what I receive and send, then I guess its time to look elsewhere.
That will be a bit of a PITA but hey ho ...

have you hovered over the blue button to see the url its going to take you to.. or right click and copy url ?

Looks dodgy to me. but I might be wrong.. i certainly wouldnt click anyhting wihtout chekcing the url'

"Age appropriate" probably applies more to search and advertising than Gmail

I have had Google (Gmail?) reminders on my phone for a while now inviting me to add my DoB but to date have ignored them.

As you say @Cobra any organisation without a qualified legitimate need(?) gets nowt......even then is Google such a 'need'???

accounts.google.com/AccountChooser?Email= xxxxgmail.com (abridge to take out the link)

Agreed, but why ask me to update my email? I don't search through that.

Ok curiosity got the better of me and I was confronted with this.
I turned everything off without proving how old I was.
So yes it appears to be as Chris @sirch said.
But strangely the email account it came in on is not my primary account and is no way ( or at least I thought) connect to google..
Just goes to show eh? ;)

Gmail is just one part of an overall google account, the settings for a given account apply to search, gmail, youtube, etc.

Anything Google related (that I know of) gets killed on my machine if possible. The only details of mine they've ever been given are 'made up' ones. I'm sure they still have far more information about me than I'd like them to have though.

Now where's my tin foil? :coat:

I've been having 'reminders' for a while now too.

That was a first for me.
Oh well I guess I'll get more. I still have a couple or so gmail accounts for them to pry into :D

I got the same but as a notification on my phone's google account, not by email.

I have a couple of gmail addresses too, but I haven't been asked to 'update' anything yet ... and I don't use YouTube or the Google search engine.

I also have professional and personal domain mail addresses and find that I'm using them a lot more than I used to. No particular reason, gmail is convenient but I'm not really comfortable with anything Google related.
