false advertising!

I downloaded it on friday for mac and for pc. I must say I have been really impressed with the speed and GUI.

No crashes on either yet.

Tried installing it but the damn thing decided its going to be my default browser without asking. Easily fixed I know but to be asked during installation would be appreciated.

I had a wee go with that SPWare Iron browser somebody mentioned a day or two ago.

A wee bit quicker than IE8, very fast to google highlighted areas but a wee bit slow to use on certain websites.

No crashes but miss the mouse-over Exif data I get on IE8 though.

So back to IE8 it is!

Still cant leave firefox just yet.
Though heard good things about chrome.

what have you found to be faster on mac?

I just tested it compared to safari and it ran slower. Test with ebay home page which has a fair amount of flash.

6 seconds in Safari
22 seconds in Chrome

both after resetting the cache completely

I have adblocker and noscript running on Firefox and hardly see an advert, I bloody hate having adverts rammed down my throat so for now I will stick with Firefox :)

Tried it on both Mac and PC and have liked it so far.

I felt it was noticably quicker than Safari on my Mac, but then I decided to routinely check permissions on my Mac and since then Safari has launched a lot quicker so I'd say they were pretty similar [subjective assessment only].

my tests dont show it to be any quicker, it's just the gui so some will prefer it some won't. I like the one address bar, but thats the only thing thats really different

I've moved from Opera & Firefox to Chrome just last Friday, and I'm loving it! I got the beta version, and it supports extensions. First thing I got was the exif viewer, which shows configurable information on mouse-over. Second thing I got was the ad blocker, which I've not tried yet as I only got it last night. Installation was dead easy, no crashes, and it's the fastest and sleekest browser I've tried so far! Oh, and it's got an extension that allows you to open a tab within Chrome in IE, for those pages that won't work with anything else.. which I thought was a brilliant idea! Not tried that one either yet as I've simply not come across a page that didn't work in Chrome.

As a Norwegian I feel guilty for leaving Opera, but when Chrome is so much faster I can't NOT switch! :D

that figures.. i found the flash plugin for chrome buggy as hell (when it FINALLY decided it wanted to play at all).

can someone link a page that they think works faster in chrome so I can test it, I still havent seen it work any faster than safari

I've not used Safari so couldn't say. It feels faster than Opera, Firefox and IE, and for me how the browser feels to use is more important than whether it objectively loads a page faster or not. :)

I always run chrome and firefox, 2 screens, 2 browsers.

Chrome I use for normal browsing plus it has a great INCOGNITO mode that leaves no traces on the PC, great for browsing the net on the portable chrome at work ;)

Firefox is my web development browser and I use it on some pages that sometimes chrome struggles with (which is very few and usually flash sites).

Currently have 19 tabs open in chrome ranging from buying a bathroom, facebook, work, tog sites and 360 modding sites. All working fine :)

i think people keep saying it's faster because others are telling them it is, I'd love to see a site that ran faster even than firefox to try out.

I think it's a case of people keep saying it and so you start thinking it's true when it isn't.

the GUI and use is more important for sure, but I want to get to the bottom of these claims of it running faster as I just don't see it, perhaps it's my computer?

Been running it since it first came out maybe a yaer or so.

No problems at all and no crashes .

There is an exif reader plug in for it.

It just works and it works fast

another person talking about the speed - do you have a site I can compare it to that you think runs faster. every site I have tested is either the same as safari or slower

If you download the latest version you can try out extensions, i've currently got the EXIF viewer installed as well as a nifty image viewer called Colliris :)

I use a program called TinySpell, it runs in the background and checks spelling in everything you type, no matter the application. :)

EDIT: Not sure but my chrome highlights anything that is spelt incorrectly.

I found chrome useless on a mac (but that was ages ago when it first came out) Safari is so good that I have no need to replace it anyway (just add a few plugins).

I haven't found it useless, just havent found it any different, which begs the question WHY bother?

Personal choice?

I find it loads faster than firefox and definitely IE from launching. Page wise, I haven't noticed much difference in speed.

I also prefer the general layout, its nice and clean and simple, very few issues any more. It's a great browser, but if you've found something better, by all means, use it :D

I guess you are on windows though, if you were on mac you'd seee very little difference in the layout and launching compared to apple's Safari

I have used the IE View add-on for this purpose in Firefox for some time...

I downloaded this last year, and at the beginning i found it very fast and a joy to use. Then it started to crash all the time so uninstalled it and now i use Opera 10,absolutely no problems what so ever.I tried it again after seeing the adds on a bill poster but still got the crashes, shame really as i'm a fan of anything Google.

lol, another person claiming speed - what exactly is it faster at, can you give an example so I can test it?

all these people claiming speed that I don't see, I'm starting to think I have something wrong with my computer
